TIPPING OFF
The Arkansas Tech men's basketball team remains at home on Saturday afternoon for their second game of the weekend as they are set to take on Southern Nazarene.
 
This will be 26th meeting all-time between Tech and Southern Nazarene. In a series that dates back to 1983, the series has been played in earnest since 2012 when they two became conference rivals. Overall, Southern Nazarene holds a 15-10 advantage in the series.

TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Wonder Boys are 6-7 overall and 3-4 in the GAC. Tech is coming off a win their last time out as they handed Oklahoma Baptist their first conference loss of the season at home this past Thursday.
 
Statistically, the Wonder Boys average 68.3 ppg and rank 11th in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Wonder Boys rank third in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 66.8 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Wonder Boys are ninth in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .430 (308-of-717) and allow their opponents to shoot at a .429 mark (301-of-701) to rank fifth.
 
From beyond-the-arc, the Wonder Boys shoot at a clip of .295 (87-of-295) to rank 11th in the GAC while their opponents make three-pointers at a mark of .336 (91-of-271) to rank seventh. From the free throw line, the Wonder Boys shoot .706 as a team (185-of-262) to rank eighth.
 
Individually, the Wonder Boys have one player averaging double figures in scoring and are led by Cassius Brooks and his 18.5 ppg. Five other Wonder Boys are averaging at least 7.0 ppg
 
Seybian Sims is the team-leader in rebounding and is averaging 7.8 rebounds per game. In terms of assists, Kade Shaffer leads the team and is averaging 4.0 assists per game.
 
Defensively, the Wonder Boys are led in steals by Brooks at 1.5 steals per game and in blocks by Sean Cobb at 0.9 blocks per game.
 
The Wonder Boys are coached by Mark Downey, who is in his fifth season back on the sidelines at Tech after a 10-year hiatus. In his first stint, Downey patrolled the sidelines at Tech for four seasons from 2006-07 - 2009-10. In his final season, Downey guided the Wonder Boys to a program-record 30 wins and during that season, the Wonder Boys were ranked No. 1 in NCAA DII for the first time ever.
 
In his time at Tech, which is now in its ninth season overall, Downey has amassed a 141-101 record. Overall, Downey is in his 18th season as a head coach and has career record of 307-207.
 
SCOUTING THE CRIMSON STORM
Southern Nazarene is 9-2 overall and 6-1 in conference play. The Crimson Storm recently had their six-game winning streak snapped with a 75-55 loss on the road at Harding this past Thursday.
 
Statistically, the Crimson Storm average 71.4 ppg and rank ninth in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Crimson Storm rank second in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 64.4 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Crimson Storm are sixth in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .477 (280-of-587) and allow their opponents to post a .420 mark (254-of-605) to rank fourth.
 
From beyond-the-arc, the Crimson Storm shoot at a clip of .351 (84-of-239) to rank fifth in the GAC while their opponents make three-pointers at a mark of .395 (75-of-235) to rank sixth. From the free throw line, the Crimson Storm shoot .681 as a team (141-of-207) to rank ninth.
 
Individually, the Crimson Storm have two players averaging double figures in scoring and are led by Baron Bracey and his 14.8 ppg. Ricky Brown is next and rounds out double figure scoring at 12.6 ppg. Two other Crimson Storm are averaging at least 9.0 ppg as well.
 
Bracey is the team-leader in rebounding and is averaging 6.1 rebounds per game. In terms of assists, Strong leads the team and is averaging 4.4 assists per game.
 
Defensively, the Crimson Storm are led in steals by Strong at 1.7 steals per game and in blocks by Timur Krupalija at 1.2 blocks per game.
 
The Crimson Storm are coached by BJ Foster, who is in his second season at Southern Nazarene and his eighth overall. In his time at SNU, Foster is 25-16 and 124-86 overall.
