SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The Division II Conference Commissioner's Association released its all-region teams for men's basketball on Friday and in that release, Arkansas Tech junior guard
Taelon Peter was named First Team All-Central Region.
OFFICIAL D2CCA RELEASE
As a first team all-region selection, Peter will now advance to the national ballot and have an opportunity to be voted as an All-America player. The D2CCA all-region plaudit for Peter is the first in his career and the first for a Wonder Boy since 2012 when Johnie Davis was named to the second team.
The all-region acclaim for Peter comes as a result of a spectacular season for the Russellville product. Earlier named GAC Player of the Year and a unanimous First Team All-GAC selection, Peter ended the regular season averaging 20.3 ppg to lead the Great American Conference and is currently averaging 19.0 ppg after playing through the GAC tournament with an injury.
Five times this season, Peter was named GAC Player of the Week and was once named D2CIDA National Player of the Week once back in early December. At the end of the regular season, Peter was one of just two DII players to shoot at least 50% overall, 40% from three-point range and 85% from the free throw line.
He also ended regular season ranking in the top-40 in free throw percentage (36th), points (28th), points per game (25th), three-point percentage (19th), three-pointers made per game (23rd) and total three-pointers made (24th).
