TIPPING OFF
The Arkansas Tech men's basketball team will look to get back into the win column this Saturday afternoon as they remain on the road at East Central.

This will be the 42nd meeting all-time between Arkansas Tech and East Central in a series that dates to the 1957 season. Overall, Tech holds a slight lead in the series 21-20. Since the two became charter members of the GAC prior to the 2011-12 season, the Wonder Boys are 13-13 against East Central.

This will be the second game between the Wonder Boys and Tigers this season. The two met back in early January in Russellville. The Wonder Boys won that initial meeting, 76-43.

Tip-off for Saturday afternoon's game is scheduled for 3 p.m. inside the Kerr Activities Center in Ada.

TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Wonder Boys are 14-5 overall this season and are 10-3 in the GAC. Most-recently, the Wonder Boys came up just short in a showdown with Southeastern Oklahoma on the road this past Thursday. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak and pulled Tech into a tie for first place in the GAC standings.

Statistically, the Wonder Boys average 74.5 ppg and rank fifth in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Wonder Boys rank first in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 65.4 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Wonder Boys are third in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .472 (500-of-1,060) and limit their opponents to a .421 mark (415-of-985) to rank first.

From beyond-the-arc, the Wonder Boys shoot at a clip of .407 (170-of-418) to rank first in the GAC while their opponents make three-pointers at a mark of .349 (130-of-372) to rank eighth. From the free throw line, the Wonder Boys shoot .698 as a team (245-of-351) to rank seventh.

Individually, the Wonder Boys have three players averaging double figures in scoring and are led by
Taelon Peter and his 19.5 ppg.
Tommy Kamarad and
Cassius Brooks are next in scoring at 12.7 ppg and 12.4 ppg, respectively.

Josh Mitchell is the team-leader in rebounding and is averaging 6.4 rebounds per game. In terms of assists,
Kade Shaffer leads the team and is averaging 3.5 assists per game.

Defensively, the Wonder Boys are led in steals by
Peter at 2.3 steals per game and in blocks by
Mitchell at 1.9 blocks per game.

The Wonder Boys are coached by
Mark Downey, who is in his fourth season back on the sidelines at Tech after a 10-year hiatus. In his first stint,
Downey patrolled the sidelines at Tech for four seasons from 2006-07 - 2009-10. In his final season,
Downey guided the Wonder Boys to a program-record 30 wins and during that season, the Wonder Boys were ranked No. 1 in NCAA DII for the first time ever.

In his time at Tech, which is now in its eighth season overall,
Downey has amassed a 124-92 record. Overall,
Downey is in his 17th season as a head coach and has career record of 290-198.

SCOUTING THE TIGERS
East Central is 9-10 overall this season and are 5-8 in GAC play. The Tigers have lost three-straight games. Their most-recent game was an 71-68 loss at home against Harding this past Thursday night.

Statistically, the Tigers average 67.7 ppg and rank 10th in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Tigers rank third in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 69.1 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Tigers are ninth in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .447 (463-of-1,035) and limit their opponents to a .461 mark (470-of-1,020) to rank ninth.

Thomas leads the team and is averaging 3.8 assists per game.
