RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech volleyball team got back into the win column on Tuesday night in dominant fashion as they beat Lane College, 3-0, at home in Tucker Coliseum. The average margin of victory across the three sets was 11.3 points.
As a result of that sizable gap in score for each set, every major stat category overall in the match was dominated by the Golden Suns. They would best Lane in kills (35-19), service aces (12-4), blocks (7-3), assists (31-18), digs (44-29) and attack percentage (.259 - .011).
With each set and subsequently the match not truly in doubt, the Golden Suns were able to have all 17 available players on the team see action. This was especially good for true freshmen
Erica Vogel and
Karlly Dillard as they made their collegiate debuts in the third set. The two would combine for three kills on four attempts with Vogel having a pair of kills on three attempts while Dillard was one-for-one on her attack.
Savannah Meyer was the top point-scorer for the Golden Suns as she had 17.0 thanks to 13 kills and four service aces.
The Golden Suns will now prepare to hit the road this weekend for their first Oklahoma swing of the season. They will first play at East Central on Friday, October 11 starting a 6 p.m. and follow up the next day at Southeastern Oklahoma. First-serve for that match is 2 p.m.
