TIPPING OFF
The Arkansas Tech men's basketball team is ready to face its second-straight top-tier Great American Conference opponent this Saturday as they are home against Southeastern Oklahoma.

This will be the 39
th meeting all-time between Arkansas Tech and Southeastern Oklahoma in a series that dates back to the 1949-50 season. Overall, Tech leads the series 21-17. Since the two became charter members of the GAC prior to the 2011-12 season, the Wonder Boys are 14-11 against Southeastern Oklahoma

As conference foes, the two teams met twice last season in the regular season with the series being split. Tech won the initial meeting 86-77 on the road, but fell at home, 68-61.

Tip-off for Saturday afternoon's game is scheduled for 3 p.m. inside Tucker Coliseum.

TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Wonder Boys are 9-2 overall this season and are 5-0 in the early goings of the GAC schedule. Most-recently, the Wonder Boys extended their winning streak to nine games with a 76-43 blowout win at home against East Central this past Thursday.

Statistically, the Wonder Boys average 76.1 ppg and rank fifth in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Wonder Boys rank first in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 65.1 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Wonder Boys are fifth in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .469 (292-of-623) and limit their opponents to a .429 mark (246-of-574) to rank third.

From beyond-the-arc, the Wonder Boys shoot at a clip of .405 (92-of-227) to rank first in the GAC while their opponents make three-pointers at a mark of .321 (67-of-209) to rank third. From the free throw line, the Wonder Boys shoot .697 as a team (161-of-231) to rank ninth.

Individually, the Wonder Boys have three players averaging double figures in scoring and are led by
Taelon Peter and his 19.9 ppg.
Seybian Sims and
Cassius Brooks are next in scoring at 12.0 and 11.5 ppg, respectively.
Tommy Kamarad is just off double figure scoring with an average of 9.8 ppg.

Josh Mitchell is the team-leader in rebounding and is averaging 6.7 rebounds per game. In terms of assists,
Brooks leads the team and is averaging 3.1 assists per game.

Defensively, the Wonder Boys are led in steals by
Peter at 2.5 steals per game and in blocks by
Mitchell at 1.7 blocks per game.

The Wonder Boys are coached by
Mark Downey, who is in his fourth season back on the sidelines at Tech after a 10-year hiatus. In his first stint,
Downey patrolled the sidelines at Tech for four seasons from 2006-07 - 2009-10. In his final season,
Downey guided the Wonder Boys to a program-record 30 wins and during that season, the Wonder Boys were ranked No. 1 in NCAA DII for the first time ever.

In his time at Tech, which is now in its eighth season overall,
Downey has amassed a 119-89 record. Overall,
Downey is in his 17th season as a head coach and has career record of 285-195.

SCOUTING THE SAVAGE STORM
Southeastern Oklahoma is 8-5 overall this season and are 4-1 in GAC play. The Savage Storm have won three-straight games with all three of those coming in GAC action. Their most-recent game played was a 100-83 win on the road at Harding this past Thursday.

Statistically, the Savage Storm average 88.9 ppg and rank first in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Savage Storm rank 12th in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 83.9 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Savage Storm are first in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .492 (405-of-824) and limit their opponents to a .496 mark (403-of-813) to rank 12th.
