Tipping Off
The conference portion of the 2022-23 regular season slate for the Arkansas Tech women's basketball team is at the mid point as the Golden Suns continue Great American Conference Play with a 10-5 GAC record and stay in third place.
The gauntlet of conference games continues as Tech gets ready to travel for a pair of road games against Oklahoma Baptist and Southern Nazarene. The
game against the Bison will be on Thursday night in Shawnee and is set for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off. The game against the Crimson Storm will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday in Bethany.
The Golden Suns won the first matchup of the season against Oklahoma Baptist at home in a dominant fashion by a score of 76-50 for one of their largest win margins of the season so far this year. Tech lost the home matchup against Southern Nazarene 70-77 in overtime for their first matchup of the season.
In the all-time series histories, this will be the 15th matchup against Oklahoma Baptist and the 26th matchup against Southern Nazarene. The Golden Suns are 10-4 against OBU and 17-8 against SNU all-time.

Tech Tidbits
The Golden Suns continue Great American Conference play with a 12-7 overall record and one of the best conference records at 10-4. In the GAC standings, the Golden Suns are third. In the Golden Suns most recent stretch, they took down both Southwestern Oklahoma State and Northwestern Oklahoma State on the road to head into this weeks slate of games on a two-game win streak.
Statistically, this year, the Golden Suns are averaging 71.5 ppg and rank second in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Golden Suns rank sixth in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 64.9 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Golden Suns are fifth in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .416 (511-of-1228) and are limiting their opponents to a .355 mark (429-of-1207) to rank second in the GAC.
From beyond-the-arc, the Golden Suns are shooting at a clip of .257 (83-of-323) to rank 12th in the GAC, while their opponents are making three-pointers at a mark of .322 (137-of- 425) to rank eighth. From the free throw line, the Golden Suns are shooting .674 as a team (254-of-377) to rank ninth.
Individually, the Golden Suns have two players averaging double figures in scoring. Jalei Oglesby leads the way at 19.7 ppg, which is the best scoring average in the Great American Conference. Kaley Shipman has also provided a big lift as the other double figure scorer for the Golden Suns at 12.6 ppg.
The Golden Suns are coached by Dave Wilbers, who is in his 16th season on the sidelines at Tech. A member of the 300-career win club, Wilbers has a career record of 340-115.
Overall in his time at Tech, Wilbers has kept the Golden Suns as perennial contenders in the GAC, the region and the nation, winning 20 or more games nine times, capturing seven conference regular championships, five conference tournament championships and advancing to nine NCAA Regional Tournaments.

Scouting the Bison
Oklahoma Baptist on the season is currently 13-8 overall with a 9-6 record in GAC play. They are currently fourth overall in the conference standings.
Statistically this season, the Bison average 65.6 ppg on offense to rank eighth in the GAC and give up an average of 65.2 ppg to rank seventh in the GAC. In terms of field goal percentages, Oklahoma Baptist shoots at a .428 clip overall (477-of-1114) to rank third in the conference and are allowing opponents to shoot at a mark of .390 (493-of-1265) to rank sixth.
From three-point range, the Bison shoot at a .352 clip (111- of-315) to rank second overall in the GAC and are allowing their opponents to shoot .333 (171-of-513) from range to rank ninth. At the charity stripe, the Bison shoot .797 (314-of-394) to rank first in the GAC.
Individually, the Bison boast three players scoring in double figures and are led by Erika Ankney who is scoring 16.9 ppg. Madison Chambers and Jaedyn Getman are the other double figure scorers for the Bison and are averaging 13.3 and 12.8 ppg, respectively.
The Bison are coached by Bo Overton, who is entering his third season as the head coach of the women's basketball program at Oklahoma Baptist.

Scouting the Crimson Storm
Southern Nazarene enters Saturday's conference game with a 17-4 overall record and a 14-1 league record. The Crimson Storm currently own the GAC's best conference record and sit at No. 1 overall in the standings.
Statistically this season, the Crimson Storm average 67.5 ppg on offense to rank fifth in the GAC and give up an average of 57.4 ppg to rank second in the GAC. In terms of field goal percentages, SNU shoots at a .432 clip overall (508-of-1177) to rank second and are allowing opponents to shoot at a mark of .379 (444-of-1170) to rank fourth.
From three-point range, the Crimson Storm shoot at a .304 clip (115-of-378) to rank sixth in the GAC and are allowing their opponents to shoot .294 (99-of-337) from range to rank fifth. At the charity stripe, the Crimson Storm shoot .728 (287-of- 394) to rank fifth in the GAC.
Individually, the Savage Storm have three players scoring in double figures in Georgia Adams who is averaging 14.9 ppg, followed by Cassandra Awatt and Hannah Giddey who are averaging 14.1 and 10.4 ppg, respectively.
The Crimson Storm are coached by Trent May, who is in his fifth season at the helm of Southern Nazarene's women's basketball program.
