TIPPING OFF
One final Oklahoma road swing awaits the Arkansas Tech men's basketball team this weekend as the Wonder Boys head to Shawnee to take on Oklahoma Baptist on Thursday and then Bethany to take on Southern Nazarene on Saturday.

Earlier this season, the Wonder Boys beat Southern Nazarene at home to hand the Crimson Storm their lone GAC loss to this point, and then narrowly fell to Oklahoma Baptist a couple of days later. Southern Nazarene has gone on to win each of its last eight games since playing Tech, while Oklahoma Baptist is 2-5 in that time.

In terms of all-time series histories, this will be the 16th meeting against Oklahoma Baptist, and the 22nd meeting between Tech and Southern Nazarene. Against Oklahoma Baptist, Tech trails the series 11-4. Against Southern Nazarene, Tech trails 12-9.

Talking Tech
The Wonder Boys enter play this weekend with an 11-10 overall record and are in fourth place in the Great American Conference standings at 9-6. The Wonder Boys are looking to snap a four-game losing skid that began on January 26 in overtime at Southwestern Oklahoma.

Statistically, the Wonder Boys are averaging 66.5 ppg and rank 11th in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Wonder Boys rank third in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 65.8 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Wonder Boys are 11th in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .430 (502-of-1,168) and limit their opponents to a .418 mark (474-of-1,133) to rank third.

From beyond-the-arc, the Wonder Boys shoot at a clip of .271 (116-of-428) to rank 12th in the GAC while their opponents make three-pointers at a mark of .338 (154-of-456) to rank sixth. From the free throw line, the Wonder Boys shoot .654 as a team (276-of-422) to rank 11th.

The Wonder Boys are coached by
Mark Downey, who is in his third season back on the sidelines at Tech after a 10-year hiatus. In his first stint, Downey patrolled the sidelines at Tech for four seasons from 2006-07 - 2009-10. In his final season, Downey guided the Wonder Boys to a program-record 30 wins and during that season, the Wonder Boys were ranked No. 1 in NCAA DII for the first time ever.

In his time at Tech, which is now in its seventh season overall, Downey has amassed a 105-80 record. Overall, Downey is in his 16th season as a head coach and has career record of 271-188.

Scouting the Bison
Oklahoma Baptist enters this weekend's games with an 11-10 overall record and are 8-7 in GAC play. The Bison are coming off a slim one-point win over Henderson State in their last game played. That win snapped a five-game losing streak for the Bison.

Statistically for the year, the Bison are averaging 73.9 ppg on offense to rank fifth in the GAC and are giving up an average of 72.0 ppg to rank seventh in the GAC. In terms of field goal percentages, OKB shoots at a .474 clip overall (556-of-1,173) to rank third in the league and allow opponents to shoot at a mark of .451 (539-of-1,195) to rank ninth.

From three-point range, the Bison shoot at a .346 clip (149-of-431) to rank sixth in the GAC and allow opponents to shoot .341 (157-of-460) from range to rank eighth. At the charity stripe, the Bison shoot .727 (290-of-399) to rank sixth in the GAC.

The Bison are coached by
Jason Eaker, who is in his fifth season as head coach at Oklahoma Baptist. In his time as head coach at Oklahoma Baptist, Eaker has had four-straight winning seasons and twice won at least 20 games. He has also guided the Bison to a pair of NCAA Central Region Tournament appearances.

A long-time assistant coach at the Division I level, Eaker's lone head coaching experience is at Oklahoma Baptist. Overall, he has an 85-48 career record as a head coach.

Scouting the Crimson Storm
Southern Nazarene enters this weekend with an 18-6 overall and are 14-1 in the GAC. Prior to playing Tech on Saturday, the No. 17-ranked Crimson Storm will have played at home against Harding on Thursday night. Heading into their game with Harding, Southern Nazarene has won eight-straight and are two games clear of the field at the top of the GAC standings. SNU's last loss and only defeat in GAC play came against Tech back on January 12.

Statistically, the Crimson Storm are averaging 70.6 ppg on offense to rank ninth in the GAC and are giving up an average of 56.7 ppg to rank first in the GAC. In terms of field goal percentages, SNU shoots at a .480 clip overall (504-of-1,051) to rank second in the league and allow opponents to shoot at a mark of .401 (431-of-1,076) to rank first.

The Crimson Storm are coached by
Adam Bohac, who is in his 15th season as head coach at Southern Nazarene. In his 14 previous seasons as head coach, Bohac has led the Crimson Storm to eight seasons of 20 or more wins with a high-watermark coming in 2018-19 when SNU won 29 games.

The coach of the Crimson Storm when they were in the NAIA, Bohac has successfully transitioned the team into a perennial power at the DII level. After two years just under .500 as members of DII, Bohac has since led SNU to six-straight winning seasons with at least 20 wins in four of those seasons.
