A third road game in five days awaits the Arkansas Tech men's basketball team on Monday night as they head to Searcy to take on Harding as part of "Rivalry Night" across the Great American Conference. The Wonder Boys will be searching for the season sweep against the Bisons as they won the first meeting of the year at home, 87-75, back in late January.
 
The game at Harding will be the penultimate road contest this regular season for the Wonder Boys as three of their final four games will take place inside Tucker Coliseum.
 
In terms of all-time series history, this will be the 152nd meeting between Tech and Harding. Tech leads the series 87-64.
 
Talking Tech
The Wonder Boys enter play on Monday night with a 12-11 overall record and are in fourth place in the Great American Conference standings at 10-7. The Wonder Boys are coming off a 1-1 weekend on the road as they beat Oklahoma Baptist this past Thursday and fell just short against No. 17-ranked Southern Nazarene on Saturday.
 
Statistically, the Wonder Boys are averaging 65.4 ppg and rank 11th in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Wonder Boys rank second in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 64.9 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Wonder Boys are 11th in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .432 (543-of-1,257) and limit their opponents to a .417 mark (511-of-1,224) to rank third.
 
From beyond-the-arc, the Wonder Boys shoot at a clip of .270 (124-of-460) to rank 12th in the GAC while their opponents make three-pointers at a mark of .333 (166-of-499) to rank ffith. From the free throw line, the Wonder Boys shoot .649 as a team (294-of-453) to rank 11th.
 
Individually, the Wonder Boys have two players averaging double figures in scoring. Taelon Peter leads the way at 13.3 ppg. Andre Leavell is next and rounds out double-figure scoring with an average of 10.3 ppg. Four other Wonder Boys are scoring at least 7.0 ppg as well.
 
The Wonder Boys are coached by Mark Downey, who is in his third season back on the sidelines at Tech after a 10-year hiatus. In his first stint, Downey patrolled the sidelines at Tech for four seasons from 2006-07 - 2009-10. In his final season, Downey guided the Wonder Boys to a program-record 30 wins and during that season, the Wonder Boys were ranked No. 1 in NCAA DII for the first time ever.
 
In his time at Tech, which is now in its seventh season overall, Downey has amassed a 106-83 record. Overall, Downey is in his 16th season as a head coach and has career record of 272-189.
 
Scouting the Bisons
Harding enters Monday night's game with a 5-18 overall record and are 1-16 in GAC play. The Bisons are in the midst of an 11-game losing streak, with all of those losses have come in GAC action. The last win for Harding came on the road at Southeastern Oklahoma back on January 7.
 
Statistically for the year, the Bisons are averaging 73.2 ppg on offense to rank sixth in the GAC and are giving up an average of 79.9 ppg to rank 12th in the GAC. In terms of field goal percentages, Harding shoots at a .463 clip overall (638-of-1,378) to rank sixth in the league and allow opponents to shoot at a mark of .484 (686-of-1,417) to rank 12th.
 
From three-point range, the Bisons shoot at a .314 clip (161-of-513) to rank 10th in the GAC and allow opponents to shoot .377 (194-of-514) from range to rank 12th. At the charity stripe, the Bisons shoot .769 (246-of-320) to rank second in the GAC.
 
Individually, the Bisons have two players scoring in double figures and are led by Taylor Currie. Currie is currently the leading individual scorer in the GAC at 23.8 ppg. He is also the leading rebounder in the GAC at 9.5 boards per game. Keyln McBride is next in scoring and rounds out double figure scoring at 10.5 ppg. Two other Bisons average at least 9.0 ppg offensively.
 
The Bisons are coached by Jeff Morgan, who is in his 30th season as head coach at Harding. Over the course of his lengthy career, Morgan has won 446 games at Harding and has had six seasons with at least 20 wins. He has led the Bisons to conference regular season titles three times. For one year prior to coming to Harding, Morgan was the head coach at West Texas A&M where he went 17-10, giving him an overall career win total of 463.
