Wonder Boys win final non-conference game in front of over 1,000 area elementary school kids

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The third-annual Arkansas Tech men's basketball Kids' Day Out game was a success once more as the Wonder Boys treated the over 1,000 elementary-aged kids from Dardanelle, Dover and Pottsville elementary schools to a 74-46 win over Arkansas Baptist on Tuesday.

The win extends the Wonder Boys' winning streak to seven and wraps up their non-conference slate.

With a one-point lead, 12-11, and just under 13 minutes in the first half remaining, Dardanelle-product Braden Tanner buried a three-pointer that ignited the fellow Sand Lizards in attendance.

The Tanner three-pointer was the start of a 24-0 run by the Wonder Boys that lasted over 10 minutes of game time. Arkansas Baptist finally broke the streak on a free throw at the 2:46 mark and got back to back layups at the end of the half to make if a 25-point game at the break, 41-16.

The Wonder Boys would stay out in front comfortably throughout the entirety of the second half and held a lead as large as 32 points on two occasions before ending with a 28-point margin of victory.

A total of 11 players took the court for the Wonder Boys with nine scoring. Tommy Kamarad led the team in scoring with 15 points. Cassius Brooks and Taelon Peter were the other two players in double figures with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
