TIPPING OFF
The Arkansas Tech men's basketball team is set to play their first game against a Great American Conference opponent at home this season on Saturday afternoon as the Wonder Boys welcome in Ouachita Baptist.

It will be the 182
nd meeting all-time between Arkansas Tech and Ouachita Baptist in a series that dates back to the 1926-27 season. Overall, Ouachita holds a 92-89 lead in the series. Since the two became charter members of the GAC prior to the 2011-12 season, Tech leads the series 16-14

As conference foes, the two teams met twice last season in the regular season and Tech won both matchups, winning 74-65 on the road in overtime and 64-58 at home. The two would also face off in the opening round of the GAC Tournament. The Wonder Boys were also victorious in that game, winning 73-66.

Tip-off for the game is scheduled for 3 p.m. from Tucker Coliseum.

TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Wonder Boys are 3-2 overall this season and are off to a 1-0 start in GAC play after beating Arkansas-Monticello on the road this past Thursday. The win also extended the Wonder Boys' winning streak to three game as they recently collected wins over Drury at home, 75-72 and UT Tyler on the road, 88-81, in overtime.

Statistically, the Wonder Boys average 75.6 ppg and rank sixth in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Wonder Boys rank ninth in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 77.2 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Wonder Boys are sixth in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .466 (129-of-277) and limit their opponents to a .471 mark (128-of-272) to rank eighth.

From beyond-the-arc, the Wonder Boys shoot at a clip of .414 (41-of-99) to rank second in the GAC while their opponents make three-pointers at a mark of .384 (43-of-112) to rank 10th. From the free throw line, the Wonder Boys shoot .675 as a team (79-of-117) to rank seventh.

Individually, the Wonder Boys have four players averaging double figures in scoring and are led by
Taelon Peter and his 18.0 ppg.
Cassius Brooks is next in scoring at 13.2 ppg followed by
BJ Johnson at 12.7 pgg.
Seybian Sims rounds out double-figure scoring at 12.0 ppg.

Peter is the team-leader in rebounding and is averaging 5.2 rebounds per game. In terms of assists,
Brooks leads the team and is averaging 3.6 assists per game.

Defensively, the Wonder Boys are led in steals by

Josh Mitchell at 1.2 blocks per game.

The Wonder Boys are coached by
Mark Downey, who is in his fourth season back on the sidelines at Tech after a 10-year hiatus. In his first stint,
Downey patrolled the sidelines at Tech for four seasons from 2006-07 - 2009-10. In his final season,
Downey guided the Wonder Boys to a program-record 30 wins and during that season, the Wonder Boys were ranked No. 1 in NCAA DII for the first time ever.

In his time at Tech, which is now in its eighth season overall,
Downey has amassed a 113-89 record. Overall,
Downey is in his 17th season as a head coach and has career record of 279-195.

SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Ouachita is off 1-4 overall this season and are off to an 0-1 start in GAC play after losing at home to Harding this past Thursday, 79-71. The Tigers are also in the midst of modest two-game losing streak and are 0-4 against NCAA Division II opponents. Their lone on the season came at home against Ecclesia College of the NCCAA.

Statistically, the Tigers average 74.2 ppg and rank seventh in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Tigers rank eighth in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 75.4 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Tigers are fifth in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .469 (143-of-305) and limit their opponents to a .446 mark (132-of-296) to rank seventh.

Knox leads the team and is averaging 3.2 assists per game.

Haynes and
Knox at 1.6 steals per game and in blocks by
Williams at 0.8 blocks per game.

The Tigers are coached by
Dennis Nutt, who is in his 13
th season as head coach at Ouachita and his 19
th overall. In his time at Ouachita,
Nutt has amassed a 158-172 record. Prior to coming to Ouachita, Nutt had a six-year stretch as head coach of Texas State. Overall, Nutt has a 230-268 career record.
