TIPPING OFF

Down to the final three games of the regular season are left for the Arkansas Tech men's basketball team and after action and results in the Great American Conference on Monday night, only one more spot in the upcoming GAC Tournament is left unclaimed as seven of the eight participants have been decided.

Entering play on Tuesday night, the Wonder Boys are on the outside looking in, but are still within reach of securing that final bid and a positive result will go a long way toward that end. They still control much of their own destiny down the stretch, but could still benefit from some help around them.

Currently, the Wonder Boys sit in ninth place, one game up in the loss column to UAM and one full game back in both the win and loss column to East Central. UAM is down to its final two games of the regular season and will play Thursday/Saturday. ECU, like Tech has three more games remaining and will play tonight as well as this coming Thursday/Saturday.

The challenge on Tuesday night will be stout for the Wonder Boys, however, as they are set to play a makeup game with Southeastern Oklahoma. The Savage Storm are securely in the field for the GAC Tournament, but are playing for a lot more down the stretch as they are eying a conference regular season championship.

Coming into play on Tuesday, the Savage Storm are just one game back of the top spot in the standings trailing only Oklahoma Baptist. A positive result for Southeastern against Tech would set up a showdown with Oklahoma Baptist on their home court this coming Thursday, likely with the regular season title hanging in the balance.
