SEARCY, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech Golden Suns dropped a double-header in the first of two #RivalryTuesday matchups against the Lady Bisons of Harding in Searcy. Arkansas Tech fell in the first game 1-0 and the second game 4-2.
The Golden Suns will be back in action this weekend, taking on Arkansas-Monticello in a three-game Great American Conference series. Arkansas Tech sits at a 5-4 overall record and a 3-2 record in GAC play.
GAME ONE
After giving up one run in the first inning, starting pitcher
Maddy Prough went five scoreless innings, striking out 10 Lady Bisons. Prough only allowed two hits through the five innings. She leads the Golden Suns pitching staff with 35 strikeouts on the season. The Golden Suns defense did not post an error in the game.
GAME TWO
The two teams went scoreless through the first two innings until the Golden Suns got on the board after a
Holly Crutchfield double scored
Tymber Riley and
Brooke Prewitt. Prewitt reached on a fielder's choice and Riley reached on a walk. The Golden Suns went up 2-0 in the top of the third inning.
The Lady Bisons evened things up in the bottom of the fourth, 2-2. The teams would go an extra inning before Harding used a two-run homer to take the game 4-2.
Crutchfield and
McKenzie Harrish led the Golden Suns with two hits apiece. Crutchfield picked up two RBIs for the Golden Suns.
Shannon Lasey pitched four innings, allowing two runs on three hits. She struck out one in her four innings of work.
Lexy Taylor finished the game, allowing two runs off three hits.
