ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Golden Suns cross country team has extended the hot streak after dominating the Bob Gravett Invitational and taking first place. Following a stellar runner-up performance last meet,
Calli Beshore took 1st place with
Ashlynn Mays following in 2nd. The Golden Suns are headed to the Great American Conference championships undefeated.
Six of the Top-10 places were occupied by Golden Suns with 8 new personal best records – building a total team score of 21. The closest competitor, host Southern Arkansas, scored 66. Beshore blazed through the ranks with an 18:26.9 time, with Mays following 19 seconds behind at 18:45.5.
Karina Maravillas closed the gap at 5th with a 19:00.3 finish.
Morganne Browning who took 1st at the Golden Suns Invitational, followed in 6th at 19:02.1. Senior
Aubre Gilreath took 7th in the Golden Suns block at 19:08.2.
Felicity West closed the Top-10 at 10th with a 19:16.3 finish.
Maria Diaz-Fernandez finished at 19:37.7 and placing 14th,
Halle Stringer took 24th place with a 20:16 finish, and
Kristen Bess capped the Golden Suns with a 22:07.3 finish and placing 33rd.
Next up, the Golden Suns head to the GAC Championships Feb. 27th in Weatherford, Okla.
