MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Arkansas Tech women's cross country team started their 2026 season this past Friday evening at the CityAuto Memphis Twilight, hosted by Christian Brothers. The Golden Suns placed 11
th as a team among the 18-team field and were the fourth DII team in the standings.
OFFICIAL RESULTS
Leading the way for the Golden Suns at the Memphis Twilight was
Carole Werner. The Greenwood native finished 32
nd overall with a time of 18:49.67. That result was a PR for Werner in the 5K, besting her previous mark by nearly a minute.
Miley Holt was second for the Golden Suns with a PR time of 19:22.81. Her previous best was 19:43.4 at the GAC Championship last fall.
Rachel Caldwell made her return after missing last season with an injury. She would cross as Tech's third finisher with a time of 19:39.80.
Sophia Goerlich and
Addison Leffke finished one after another in the race with Goerlich clocking a 19:45.87 and Leffke a PR time of 19:48.13.

The Golden Suns will now prepare for their next event, the Chile Pepper Festival, hosted by the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark. This year's collegiate races are scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 3 with the Harter's Habanero 5K and then at 12:10 for the Prairie Fire Pepper 5K.
