ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Arkansas Tech Volleyball team drops a tough five-set match (21-25, 22-25, 25-22, 25-21, 10-15) on the road against Henderson. Tech fell to 0-2 early but battled back to tie it 2-2 to force a 5th set against the Reddies. The Golden Suns move to 17-6 overall and 11-2 in conference play.
The Golden Sun offense was led by Tymber Riley, Haylee Paladini and Kaitlynn Bradley. Riley had 14 kills, Paladini had 13 and Bradley had 12. Riley had her sixth double-double of the season with 18 digs to go alongside her 14 kills. Paladini also notched a service ace in the match. Tech lead the match in total kills with 58 compared to Henderson's 49. Junior setter Brianna Merkel led the team in assists with 37 to continue her stellar play of pacing the offense.
As for the defense, senior Madison Grantham led in digs with 22. Merkel also contributed in digs with 13 in the match, which sets a new season-high for the junior setter. As a team, Tech lead the match in total digs with 91, while Henderson had 88. Bradley led the match in blocks for the Golden Suns with 4. Paladini and senior middle blocker Emily Ragsdale followed with 3 blocks each.
The Golden Suns stay on the road for their next match which will be on Thursday, November 4 in Searcy against Harding. The match is set for a 6 p.m. start.
