TIPPING OFF

The Arkansas Tech men's basketball team is set to play their third game in four days as they are taking to the road on Monday night to take on Harding in the Great American Conference's Rivalry Night. This will be the first time this season that the Wonder Boys and Bisons have met with their initial scheduled Rivalry Night match-up being canceled due to COVID-19 concerns within the Harding program.

In their previous two games ahead of their clash at Harding, the Wonder Boys went 1-1, having lost at Henderson State this past Thursday and winning in overtime at home vs. Arkansas-Monticello on Saturday.

In the loss at Henderson, the Wonder Boys staged a valiant second-half comeback that ultimately fell just short. In the win at home against UAM, the Wonder Boys once more came from behind.

Against the Boll Weevils, the Wonder Boys went nearly the first eight minutes of game play without scoring. Despite that drought on the offensive end, UAM was not running away with the game on their end as they managed just eight points offensively before Tech's initial made basket.

ATU then found themselves down by their largest margin of nine points shortly thereafter, but a methodical 10-0 run over gave the Wonder Boys their first lead. The score changed hands on a number of occasions down the stretch in the first half and it was ultimately a one-point for UAM at the break.

UAM would remain in the lead for much of the second half, but never broke away from the Wonder Boys. Tech eventually tied the score with 45 seconds left in regulation and force the game into overtime.

With time winding down and trailing by a point in OT, the Wonder Boys forced their way to the free throw line with 1.9 seconds left after an offensive rebound by Ke'Lyn Adams. Adams, who was held scoreless to that point, drained both to give the Wonder Boys a one-point advantage. UAM was not able to get off a potential game-winning shot as the Wonder Boys won their second overtime of the season.

SCOUTING THE BISONS

Harding enters their game against the Wonder Boys 2-3 overall and 2-3 in the GAC. The Bisons are also in the midst of a three-game losing streak dropping games to Southern Arkansas, Arkansas-Monticello and Ouachita.

In their most-recent game, the Bisons played Ouachita down to the wire, but trailing by a point with 21 seconds left, the Bisons allowed an and-one to Ouachita, putting the Tigers up four points. Harding would quickly answer on their end with a jumper with 11 seconds to go, but were forced to foul and send Ouachita to the line. The Tigers would make both free throws to put the game away and bring it to its final margin of four points.

Statistically, the Bisons are averaging 73.2 ppg on offense to rank seventh in the GAC and are giving up an average of 78.4 ppg to rank 10th in the GAC. In terms of field goal percentages, Harding is shooting at a .432 clip overall (130-of-264) to rank seventh and are allowing opponents to shot at a mark of .450 (144-of-320) to rank eighth.
