INDIANAPOLIS - The Arkansas Tech Golden Suns tennis team has been ranked No. 8 in the Central Region poll.

The top six teams in the region, made up of automatic bids (issued to the winners of the Great American Conference, Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) and Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) tournaments) and three additional teams will advance to the regional matches.

The Golden Suns are one of three Great American Conference teams ranked in the poll.

Washburn (MIAA) is currently ranked No. 1 in the region, followed by Central Oklahoma (MIAA) at No. 2. Augustana (NSIC) is No. 3, with Southern Arkansas (GAC) at No. 4. In the No. 5 position is Northwest Missouri State (MIAA), with Southwest Baptist (MIAA) at No. 6. Harding (GAC) sits just ahead of Tech at No. 7.

The Golden Suns have a record of 0-3 against teams currently ranked in the Central Region poll.

Arkansas Tech hosts No. 7 Harding this Friday at 2 p.m. at the Chartwells Women's Sports Complex.
