WONDER BOYS LOOK TO KEEP WINNING STREAK ALIVE THIS WEEKEND

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech men's basketball team will look to keep its winning-streak alive as it hunts for its fifth and sixth consecutive wins this weekend as they host Ouachita at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday before traveling to Magnolia, Ark. to play Southern Arkansas on Saturday at 3 p.m.

ALL-TIME SERIES
Ouachita leads the all-time series 85-75 against Tech. Earlier this season the Tigers defeated Tech 86-81 in Arkadelphia, Ark. Tech is 39-35 against OUA in Tucker Coliseum.
 
The Wonder Boys hold a 95-72 advantage in the all-time series against Southern Arkansas, however the Muleriders have won the last three meetings. In the first meeting this season, the Muleriders defeated the Wonder Boys 79-65 in Tucker Coliseum. Tech is 30-45 against SAU at the W.T. Watson Center.

SCOUTING THE WONDER BOYS
Arkansas Tech (8-12, 6-8 GAC) is looking to ride its four-game winning streak, its longest of the season, after picking up wins over East Central (92-80) and Southeastern Oklahoma (84-82) this past weekend. The Wonder Boys sit in eighth place in the GAC standings.    
 
After tying the school record for made 3-pointers in a game against Southeastern Oklahoma on Feb.2, the Wonder Boys remain at the top spot in NCAA Division II in made 3-point field goals per game (13.6) and also lead the nation in total made 3-pointers (272). Will Adler, who is averaging 15.6 points per game, leads the nation in both made 3-pointers (82) and made 3-pointers per game (4.1).
 
Alex Brown, the reigning GAC Player of the Week, is coming off is second straight 20-point performance and fourth in the last five games. During the Wonder Boys last five games, Brown is averaging 20.4 points per game.
 
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Ouachita (8-10, 5-9 GAC) enters Thursday's game after losing three of its last four games, however OUA did split its GAC matchups this past weekend. The Tigers defeated Oklahoma Baptist (77-71) on Jan. 31 and lost 86-71 to No. 15 Southern Nazarene on Feb. 2. Ouachita is 1-7 this season in road games and is currently sitting in ninth place in the GAC standings.
 
The Tigers lead the GAC and are ranked 24th in NCAA Division II in 3-point field goal percentage as they shoot 39.6 percent from behind the arc. OUA also lead the conference in free throw percentage, shooting 75.5 percent from the line.
 
Mahlon Martin leads the Tiger offense, scoring 15.7 points per game, which ranks as the seventh-best in the conference. Martin leads the league and ranks 20th in the country in free throw percentage at 89.5 percent. Martin also ranks second in the GAC and 21st in NCAA Division II in 3-point field goal percentage (45.6%) and third in the GAC in made 3-pointers per game (2.9). Martin scored 29 points on 9-of-12 shooting from the floor and 7-of-8 from behind the arc in the first meeting against Tech.
 
SCOUTING THE SAVAGE STORM
Southern Arkansas (16-4, 11-3 GAC) has won its last two games after defeating Southwestern Oklahoma (76-64) on Jan. 31 and Northwestern Oklahoma (80-59) on Feb. 2. SAU is a perfect 10-0 when playing at the W.T. Watson Center this season, helping the Muleriders sit in second place in the GAC standings.
 
The Muleriders rank fourth in NCAA Division II in field goal percentage defense at 38.9 percent. SAU ranks 22nd in the country in 3-point field goal percentage defense. Southern Arkansas also leads the GAC in rebounding defense (31.8) and is second in rebounding margin (+5.8).
 
The Muleriders do not have any players ranked inside the top-25 in scoring, however they have three players ranked inside the top-30 as Jalen Brooks (10.6), C.J. Elkinis (10.5) and Aaron Lucas (10.2) come in at 27th, 28th and 29th. DeVante Brooks leads the team and ranks seventh in the GAC in rebounding (7.6) and is also ranked fifth in blocks per game (1.3). Ten different Muleriders scored in the first meeting with Tech, led by DeVante Brooks with 14 points.
