WONDER BOYS TOP OUACHITA

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - RJ Glasper turned in a team-high 24 points, Dillon Gooding added 18, Ramses Sandifer scored 13 and Devante Foster chipped in 12 points as the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys basketball team (3-1, 1-0 Great American Conference) held on for an 82-74 win over Ouachita Baptist (1-3, 0-1) on Thursday night at Tucker Coliseum.

  • The Wonder Boys head to Arkadelphia for a 3 p.m. matchup with Henderson State on Saturday, Nov. 23. 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Tech and OBU went back-and-forth over the first five minutes of the contest, but a Kevin McNeal jumper just under five minutes in gave Tech the lead, and the Wonder Boys would never trail again. OBU tied the game at the 12:23 mark at 12-12, but the Wonder Boys led by as many as 11 (38-27) with 1:57 to go and took an eight-point (41-33) lead into the half. 
  • Ouachita rallied through the second half, pulling to within three (55-52) with 11:59 to play. 
  • After the Tigers cut the deficit to two (57-55) on a Grant Jones 3-pointer, Glasper answered with a 3-pointer that kick-started an 8-0 run that pushed the Wonder Boys back into double figures with just over eight minutes remaining. 
  • Ouachita was able to pull to within six, but Tech claimed a 12-point lead with just over a minute to play and held the Tigers off over the final minute to seal the win. 
NOTABLES
  • Tech outshot OBU 50.0 to 40.3, including firing at a 57.1 percent clip from long range on 12-of-21 shooting. 
  • The two teams were even at 38 rebounds apiece. 
  • Foster led the Wonder Boys with nine boards. 
  • Tech held a 30-28 rebounding edge, and a 16-11 advantage in fast-break points. OBU held a 15-9 advantage in points off turnovers and a 13-4 advantage in second-chance points.
