GOLDEN SUNS RACE PAST LANE

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - Ke'Vonshaye Stackhouse led the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns (2-0) with 18 points, leading the way as Arkansas Tech picked up a 65-45 victory over Lane (0-1) on Monday at Tucker Coliseum.

  • The Golden Suns return to action on Sunday, November 17, hosting Angelo State in a 2 p.m. contest. 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Tech opened up a quick five-point (7-2) lead just over two minutes into the game before Lane came back to quickly knot the game at 7-7 one minute later. 
  • An 8-0 run by the Golden Suns gave Tech a 15-7 lead with 3:36 to play in the opening quarter. 
  • Lane pulled back within three (15-12) with 2:42 to play but the Golden Suns outscored the Dragons 8-1 over the closing minutes to take a 10-point (23-13) advantage after one quarter. 
  • Tech held Lane at arm's length throughout the second quarter, pushing ahead by 15 (36-21) going into the half. 
  • A Kaley Shipman 3-pointer with 5:27 to go in the third quarter pushed Tech's lead past 20 points (48-26) for the first time in the contest. 
  • Tech's 27-point lead (57-30) entering the fourth quarter was the largest lead of the game to that point. 
  • Lane narrowed the gap in the fourth quarter as the Golden Suns took home a 20-point victory. 
NOTABLES
  • Three other Golden Suns players reached double figures in scoring. Jalei Oglesby and Kaley Shipman both hit double figures for the second consecutive game off the bench scoring 13 and 12 points, respectively, while Hannah Villines added 10. 
  • Sarah Heard led all Golden Suns with 12 boards, while Oglesby added nine. 
  • Lycia Peevy had three assists and four steals. 
  • Lane outshot Tech 31.4 to 31.3 percent, but the Golden Suns managed 16 more shots from the floor. Tech committed 29 turnovers to Lane's 23, but held a 57-32 rebounding advantage.
  • Lane held a 23-14 advantage in points off turnovers, but Tech held a 16-6 advantage in second-chance points, a 28-26 advantage in paint points, and a 31-2 advantage in bench points.
