LATE COMEBACK NOT ENOUGH FOR WONDER BOYS AGAINST NO. 10 SNU

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Despite outscoring No. 10 Southern Nazarene 48-41 in the second half, the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys (14-8, 8-8 GAC) fell to the Crimson Storm (19-1, 16-0) on Thursday night. R.J. Glasper scored a game-high 28 points, his 10th 20-point performance of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Southern Nazarene took the first lead on a layup 18 seconds in the game. The Storm later used a 10-0 run that took just over one minute to take its first double-digit lead.
  • SNU reached its largest lead of the first half at 16 points with 3:17 until halftime, but the Wonder Boys cut the deficit to 40-27 at the break after a Alex Brown's midrange jumper with 43 seconds left in the first period.
  • The Crimson Storm shot 56.7 percent from the floor in the first half while holding the Wonder Boys to 45.8 percent. SNU outscored Tech 20-10 in the paint and grabbed eight more rebounds.
  • With 12:32 remaining in the contest, Glasper netted two free-throws, and Brown followed with four consecutive points to cut SNU's lead to single digits.
  • Southern Nazarene eventually extended its lead back to 14 with 7:36 to play, but Tech answered again with an 11-0 run. The run took nearly two minutes and featured consecutive triples from Glasper and Brown before a three-point play by Leonardo Edwards but the Storm's lead to just 65-62 with 5:36 remaining.
  • The Wonder Boys pulled within five points on three more occasions in the final five minutes of play, the Southern Nazarene never allowed Tech to tie or take the lead. SNU converted on 11-13 free-throws in the final 5:05 to secure the victory.
 
NOTABLES
  • Arkansas Tech falls to 8-8 in conference play, and the Wonder Boys are currently tied for fifth in the Great American Conference standings.
  • The Wonder Boys finished with a 51.9 percent rate on field goals, nearly identical to SNU's 51.7 percent shooting. Tech converted SNU's eight second-half turnovers into 12 points and added nine second-chance points in the final 20 minutes.
  • Glasper's 28 points came on 11-18 shooting from the field in 38 minutes. Brown followed with 15 points on 6-12 shooting, while Montrell Williams added 12 points.
  • Freddy Lee finished with 11 points on 4-5 field goals to go along with a team-high five assists.
