BROWN SETS NEW GAC RECORD IN WIN OVER BISON

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Alex Brown set the new school record and Great American Conference record for the most 3-point field goals made in a single game with 12 made threes, as the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys (15-8, 9-8 GAC) ran past the Bison with a 97-67 victory over Oklahoma Baptist (9-14, 6-11 GAC) on Saturday. Brown finished with 41 points and 10 rebounds, tied for the sixth most points scored in a single game in GAC history.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Oklahoma Baptist took the first lead on a layup 16 seconds in the game. The Bison led 9-8 at the 16:38 minute mark.
  • Tech answered with a 17-2 run capped by a Montrell Williams fade away jumper to give the Wonder Boys a 14-point advantage (25-11) with a little over 12 minutes remaining in the opening half.
  • Brown sparked a 20-5 run, as he scored 20 straight points for the Wonder Boys, netting all seven of his shots, six of which were from beyond the arc. Tech led 45-16 with 6:06 remaining in the first half.
  • The Wonder Boys closed the first half on a 10-7 run, highlighted by a Brown 3-pointer at the buzzer. Tech held a 32-point advantage (55-32) going into the break.
  • In the opening minutes of the second half, Oklahoma Baptist went on a 5-2 run to trim the Tech lead to 29-points (57-28).
  • The Wonder Boys answered with an 8-0 run, six of the points coming from back-to-back 3-pointers from Williams to give Tech a 37-point advantage (65-28), its largest lead of the game.
  • The Bison cut the lead the 29 points on two different occasions (77-48, 92-63) but that's as close as they would get as the Wonder Boys held on for their third straight victory over Oklahoma Baptist.

The Wonder Boys fell one 3-pointer shy of tying the GAC record for most threes in a game, which was set by Harding last season when they hit 21 3-pointers against Northwestern Oklahoma.
  • Brown and Williams combined for 67 points and 22 rebounds. Brown notched his second double-double of the season with his 41 points and ten rebounds. Brown's 41 points is tied for the sixth most points scored in a single game in GAC history.
  • Williams recorded his second double-double of the season with his 26 points and 12 rebounds.
  • RJ Glasper fell three rebounds shy of posting a triple-double as he finished the day with ten points, a career-high 12 assists, and seven rebounds.
  • Tech also set a season-high in assists, as the Wonder Boys dished out 28 assists, led by Glasper's 12 and followed by Freddy Lee with eight and Josiah Thomas with a career-high four assists.
  • Tech finished with a 48.6 percent rate on field goals, while holding Oklahoma Baptist to 33.8 percent from the field.
  • The Wonder Boys won the battle inside, out rebounding the Bison 46-40. Tech also forced 12 turnovers and scored 15 points off of those turnovers.
