GOLDEN SUNS SET TO HOST SOUTHERN NAZARENE AND OKLAHOMA BAPTIST

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Tech women's basketball team returns to Tucker Coliseum this weekend as the Golden Suns take on Southern Nazarene at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday and host Oklahoma Baptist at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

ALL-TIME SERIES
Arkansas Tech holds a 13-3 advantage over Southern Nazarene in the all-time series that started in 1985. The Golden Suns have won nine straight games against the Crimson Storm, including an 85-83 win over Southern Nazarene earlier this season. The Crimson Storm have never won inside of Tucker Coliseum, as the Golden Suns are a perfect 6-0 against SNU at home.
 
Arkansas Tech leads the all-time series, 6-2 against Oklahoma Baptist. After dropping the first two meetings of the all-time series, the Golden Suns have won six consecutive matchups, including a 96-87 win earlier this season. Oklahoma Baptist's lone win in Tucker Coliseum came in the 1984 season, as Oklahoma Baptist defeated Tech 70-69.
 
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN SUNS
Arkansas Tech (16-3, 12-3 GAC) is coming off a 74-62 loss to No. 10 Southwestern Oklahoma State. Prior to that loss, the Golden Suns had won seven straight games and 11 of their last 12. Tech currently sits in second in the GAC standings, trailing only Southwestern.
 
The Golden Suns lead the GAC and are ranked 12th in the country in rebounds per game with 44.7. Tech is also ranked third in the conference and 16th in Division II in scoring offense at 79.0 points a game. Tech also leads the GAC in scoring margin (+13.1), field goal percentage defense (.367), steals (13.6), and offensive rebounds (15.4).
 
Jayana Sanders leads Tech in scoring with 14.8 points per game, followed by Lyrik Williams with 12.6 points and Ke'Vonshaye Stackhouse with 12.4 points per game. Cheyenne North leads the Golden Suns in rebounding at 8.6 per game, which ranks third in the GAC. Coming off a career-high six block game against Southwestern, North is now ranked second in the conference and 18th in Division II with 2.74 blocks per game. Kylie Ladd leads the GAC and is ranked 16th in the country with 3.0 steals per game. Ladd also leads the conference in assist/turnover ratio (1.82) and is ranked tenth in assists per game (3.3).
 
SCOUTING THE CRIMSON STORM 
Southern Nazarene (7-12, 5-10 GAC) has lost seven straight games, including a 63-57 loss to Henderson State on Feb. 3. The Crimson Storm are ranked 11th in the GAC Standings.
The Crimson Storm rank first in the conference in blocks (4.8), second in field goal percentage defense (.370) and fourth in 3-point field goal defense (.337). Adrienne Berry leads SNU with 14.7 points per game, seventh best in the GAC. She also ranks seventh in the conference in made 3-pointers. Berry scored a game-high 24 points in SNU's 85-83 loss to Tech earlier this season. Alexus Jones and Abby Niehues also had big games against Tech earlier this season as they both notched double-doubles. Jones went for 13 points and 12 assists, while Niehues scored ten points and grabbed 13 rebounds.

SCOUTING THE LADY BISON
Oklahoma Baptist (12-9, 7-8 GAC) has won three of its last four games, including a 72-70 win over Ouachita on Feb. 3. The Lady Bison are ranked fourth in the GAC standings.
 
The Lady Bison are ranked second in the conference in scoring offense (80.9) as they are one of just two schools in the GAC to average over 80.0 points per game. Oklahoma Baptist also leads the GAC in field goal percentage (.445), assists (16.0), turnover margin (+3.90), and assist/turnover ratio (1.2).
 
McKenzie Cooper leads the Oklahoma Baptist offense as she scores 17.5 points per game, which ranks second in the conference. Cooper also leads the GAC in made 3-pointers (64), and is ranked second in free throw percentage (.920) and 3-point field goal percentage (.485). Tasha Edge plays a key role for the Lady Bison as she scores 15.7 points per game, which ranks fifth in the GAC. Edge also ranks fourth in the conference in rebounding (8.5) and third in made 3-pointers (56).
