WONDER BOYS SET FOR FINAL WEEKEND OF REGULAR SEASON

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – With two games remaining in the regular season, the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys look to clinch one of the final spots heading into the GAC Championship Tournament in March. Tech completes its regular season traveling to Arkadelphia, Ark. to take on Ouachita on Thursday, Feb. 22, at 7:30 p.m. followed by a 3 p.m. contest at Tucker Coliseum on Saturday against Arkansas-Monticello.

ALL-TIME SERIES
Ouachita holds an 84-74 all-time advantage over the Wonder Boys, including an 82-78 win in Russellville this season. Against Arkansas-Monticello, Tech leads the all-time series 98-50, dating back to 1929. The Wonder Boys are 55-11 all-time against the Weevils in Tucker Coliseum.
 
SCOUTING THE WONDER BOYS
Arkansas Tech (16-10, 10-10 GAC) snapped a two-game losing streak with its 70-63 win over Harding on Monday night. Tech currently sits in a tie for sixth place with Ouachita in the conference standings.
 
Offense has carried the Wonder Boys this season, as Arkansas Tech ranks second in the GAC and 28th in Division II in scoring. The Wonder Boys are also 12th in Division II in three-point field goals made per game, averaging just over 11 per game.
 
RJ Glasper has taken over as Tech's leading scorer this season. Glasper has scored in double figures in every game but one this season, including a season-high 35 points at Harding on Jan. 15. He is currently the only player in the GAC averaging at least 19 points, four rebounds and four assists per game.
 
Freddy Lee has been the facilitator of the Wonder Boy offense, averaging 5.0 assists per game. Lee currently ranks first in the GAC and fifth in Division II in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.42). Lee has dished out 361 assists in his career at Tech, which is the sixth most in school history. He is 23 assists shy of tying Rob Lyall for the fifth most assists in Tech history.
 
Montrell Williams will be playing in his final game at Tucker Coliseum on Saturday. In his two year career at Tech, Williams has started in 54 of the 55 games he has played in. He has scored 716 points, grabbed 281 rebounds, blocked 56 shots, tallied 58 steals and recorded 44 assists.
 
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Ouachita (12-13, 10-10 GAC) is riding a three-game winning-streak coming off an 87-81 win over Henderson State on Tuesday night. The Tigers are tied with Tech for sixth place in the GAC standings.  
 
The Tigers boast the fifth best scoring offense in the conference, scoring 74.7 points per game. Ouachita also ranks third in rebounding margin (+5.5), fourth in 3-point field goal percentage (.378) and fifth in field goal percentage (.471). Mahlon Martin leads the Tigers in scoring at 12.3 points per game. Wesley Franklin follows with 11.3 points per game. Franklin ranks fifth in the GAC in field goal percentage (.562), while Martin ranks ninth in made 3-point field goals per game (2.4) and sixth in 3-point field goal percentage (.438).
 
In this season's first meeting between Tech and OUA, Tech's Montrell Williams led all scorers with a season-high 26 points, however it was not enough as Ouachita claimed a four-point victory. In the win the Tigers forced 20 turnovers and scored 31 points off those turnovers.
 
SCOUTING THE WEEVILS
Arkansas-Monticello (16-10, 11-9 GAC) enters the final weekend of the regular season having won three of its last four games. With their 68-61 win over Southern Arkansas on Tuesday night, the Weevils clinched a spot in the Great American Conference Championships. Monticello currently sits in fifth place in the GAC standings.  
 
UAM leads the conference in steals (214), steals per game (8.2), assists (479), assists per game (18.4) and turnover margin (+2.65). The Weevils rank second in the GAC in assist/turnover ratio (1.3), field goal percentage (.497) and scoring margin (+7.7).
 
Monticello is the only school in the conference to have four players ranked in the top-15 in scoring, led by Derylton Hill with 17.8 points per game, followed by Karim Mawuenyega with 14.9 points per game, Tyrin Jones adds 14.8 points per game and Cobe Gossby scores 14.4 points per game. Hill also ranks fourth in the GAC in field goal percentage (.570) and sixth in rebounding (6.7). Mawuenyega leads the conference in made 3-pointers (82) and made 3-pointers per game (3.2) while ranking second in steals (47) and steals per game (1.8). Goosby ranks second in the GAC in assists (146) and assists per game (5.8), while ranking fifth in assists/turnover ratio (2.4) and eighth in steals per game (1.5).
 
Monticello defeated Tech, 94-72, earlier this season behind 29 points from Jones, 24 points from Hill and 21 points from Goosby. The Boll Weevils forced 16 turnovers and scored 21 points off those turnovers. UAM also outscored the Wonder Boys 48-36 in points in the paint.
