WONDER BOYS SHOOT PAST WILLIAM JEWELL

WARRENSBURG, Mo.R.J. Glasper scored 29 points, while Will Adler had a 28-point, 15-rebound double-double, as the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys basketball team (2-2) cranked up the offensive firepower in the second half of a 94-80 win over William Jewell (1-3) on Saturday at the UCM Multipurpose Building.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • William Jewell raced out to an 11-point (16-5) lead just under five minutes into the contest.
  • The Cardinals led by 12 (21-9) after a Keith Hayes jumper with 13:43 remaining in the half, but the Wonder Boys used a 13-0 run to claim a 22-21 lead just over two minutes later. 
  • The two teams traded leads over the next several minutes, with WJC pushing its lead back to five (38-33) with 4:03 to play in the half. 
  • Tech reclaimed the lead with 39 seconds remaining in the half on an Alex Brown layup, but the Cardinals knotted the contest in the closing seconds with an Eysan Wiley layup, sending the game into the halftime break at 42-42.
  • After WJC reclaimed the lead early in the second half on a 3-pointer by Nick Bradley (45-42), the Wonder Boys scored 15 of the game's next 19 points to jump ahead by eight (57-49) after a 3-pointer by Glasper. 
  • Glasper pushed the Tech lead into double figures (69-58) with 10:31 to play after a layup. 
  • Tech claimed a 21-point (81-60) advantage – its largest of the contest – after a 3-pointer by Adler with 6:32 to play.
  • WJC was able to pull back to within 11 points as late as the 1:40 mark, but could not narrow the gap any more as the Wonder Boys held on for the victory.
NOTABLES
  • The Wonder Boys outshot WJC 46.4 to 39.4 percent for the contest, and held a 45-39 rebounding advantage.
  • Tech forced 11 WJC turnovers while committing only nine. 
  • Adler's point and rebound totals represented game-highs for either team.
  • Glasper was 11-of-12 from the charity stripe. 
  • Both teams enjoyed the 3-point shot – Tech connected on 13 of 39 attempts while EJC was 10 of 33. 
  • WJC outscored Tech 28-26 in the paint, but Tech held a 19-9 advantage in points off turnovers and a 10-9 advantage in second-chance points.
  • There were six ties and 11 lead changes.
