SUNS ROLL PAST SAU

MAGNOLIA, Ark. - Hunter Eshnaur turned in a 15-kill performance, hitting .375, while Emily Acker dished out 40 assists and Meredith Darnell added 11 digs as the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns volleyball team (17-9, 10-4 Great American Conference) rolled to a 3-0 win over Southern Arkansas (8-19, 2-12) on Thursday night at the W.T. Watson Athletic Center.

  • Arkansas Tech returns to the friendly confines of Tucker Coliseum on Tuesday, October 30 to square off against Harding on Senior Night/Pack The Stands Night. A 6 p.m. match is scheduled. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Southern Arkansas raced out to an 8-0 advantage in the opening set. 
  • The Golden Suns battled back, using a 5-0 run to knot the set at 17-17. 
  • Tech edged ahead and forced the first set point at 24-23. 
  • The two teams combined or seven set points before the Golden Suns closed out the opening set on a block by Ellie Perkins and Rilie Vote, winning 31-29.
  • Both teams went back-and-forth in the second set, with SAU edging ahead 6-5 before Tech used four straight points to go ahead 9-6. 
  • Tech held the lead until SAU rallied to claim a 15-14 advantage. 
  • The two teams again traded leads down the stretch, with SAU jumping ahead 23-22 before Tech closed out the set with three consecutive points to win 25-23. 
  • The Golden Suns pushed out to a 5-0 lead in the third set and would never trail, winning the decisive third set 25-18. 

NOTABLES
  • Tech outhit SAU .305 to .235. 
  • The Golden Suns racked up 10 service aces to SAU's five, with Greer Rogers leading the way with three for the Golden Suns. 
  • Vote had eight kills and hit .368.
  • Eshnaur and Mackenzie Eford had three service aces apiece.
