WONDER BOYS FALL SHORT AGAINST CRIMSON STORM

BETHANY, Okla. – RJ Glasper scored 20 points with five assists, Trevin Woods added 15 points and six boards, while Montrell Williams had 12 points and six boards, but the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys basketball team (10-2, 4-2 Great American Conference) came up just short in an 85-82 loss at Southern Nazarene (10-1, 7-0) on Saturday at the Sawyer Center.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The opening half saw Arkansas Tech open a seven-point (12-5) advantage just under four minutes into the contest.
  • SNU rallied to claim its first lead of the game two minutes later, a 15-14 lead at the 14:19 mark.
  • Again, the Wonder Boys surged ahead – jumping out to another seven-point (24-17) lead after an RJ Glasper layup at the 9:39 mark.
  • SNU charged back, reclaiming the advantage at the 4:06 mark and pushing ahead by as many as three points, trading leads with the Wonder Boys before taking a three-point (43-40) advantage into the half.
  • SNU scored on its opening possession of the second half to claim its largest lead of the game to that point – five points (45-40).
  • Tech rallied and edged ahead 49-47 after an Alex Brown layup with 16:07 to play, but SNU quickly reclaimed the lead and held on to the lead for four minutes before RJ Glasper's layup gave Tech a one-point (56-55) advantage with 11:56 remaining.
  • SNU used an 8-0 run to claim a seven-point (63-56) advantage with 9:36 to play.
  • The Crimson Storm stretched their lead to ten (69-59) with 8:16 to play, however, the Wonder Boys rallied over the next four minutes to reclaim the lead, a 75-74 advantage with 4:23 to play.
  • The lead was short-lived, however, as the Crimson Storm retook a 77-75 lead with a 3-point play with 3:59 remaining.
  • SNU again stretched its lead to five (82-77) with 1:42 to play.
  • Glasper hit a pair of free-throws with 1:19 to play to cut the margin to one possession, and after a SNU turnover, knotted the game with a 3-pointer with 50 seconds remaining, leading to a SNU timeout with 44.8 seconds to play.  
  • SNU's Jhonathan Dunn buried a 3-pointer with 26.7 seconds remaining to put the Crimson Storm back on top for good.
NOTABLES
  • SNU outshot Tech 50.0 to 46.0 percent from the floor.
  • Tech held a 33-11 advantage on the rebound glass.
  • Both teams were an identical 14-of-17 from the charity stripe.
  • Freddy Lee led Tech with six assists.
  • SNU held a 42-36 advantage in points in the paint and a 16-14 advantage in second-chance points, while Tech led 17-14 in points off turnovers and 9-4 in fast-break points.
