RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. –  Montrell Williams turned in a season-high 26 points, and Alex Brown turned in a season-high 24 points, but the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys basketball team (11-6, 5-6 Great American Conference) came up short in a 82-78 loss to Ouachita (6-9, 4-6) on Saturday afternoon at Tucker Coliseum.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Ouachita used the opening two minutes to jump out to a 7-3 lead. Brown scored five straight points for Tech to give the Wonder Boys their first lead of the game (8-7) with 16:24 remaining in the opening half.
• The Tigers used the next five minutes to put together a 15-3 run to take a 22-11 lead with 11:03 to play in the first half.
• Tech answered Ouachita's run with one of its own as the Wonder Boys used a 15-4 run, capped by Brown jumper to regain the lead at 28-26 at the 7:12 minute mark.
• Ouachita regained the lead at 31-30 after Jordan Corbitt hit a 3-pointer. The Tiger lead did not last long as Tech regained the lead (33-31) on the next possession after Brown drilled a 3-pointer. The Wonder Boys scored six of the next eight points to take a 39-33 lead with 4:10 remaining in the first half.
• The Tigers ended the first half on a 12-3 run to take a 45-42 lead into the break.
• After Tech scored the opening basket of the second half, Ouachita used an 8-0 run to claim a 52-44 advantage with 17:43 remaining in the second half.
• Ouachita held Tech at arm's length over the next several minutes. The Wonder Boys narrowed the gap to four on multiple occasions (54-50 and 56-52) but Tigers stretched out the advantage again, opening up an eight-point advantage (62-54) at the 11:27 mark.
• The Tigers pushed the advantage to 12 points (70-58) at the under-eight media timeout (7:55).        
• Ouachita converted on a 3-point play out of the media break to give the Tigers their largest lead of the game (71-58).
• The Wonder Boys scored the next eight points of the game to trim the lead to five with 6:28 remaining in regulation.
• The Tigers were able to push the lead back to nine points (75-66) with just under five minutes left in the second half. Tech answered with a 7-0 run, five points coming from RJ Glasper, to cut the lead to two (75-73) with three minutes left in the game.
• Ouachita hit a pair of free throws to push the lead to five (78-73), Williams scored a layup on the following possession to cut the lead back to three (78-75) at the 1:57 minute mark.  
• After the Tigers went 1-for-2 from the free throw line on the next possession, Williams hit converted a 3-point play to help the Wonder Boys pull within one (79-78) with 51 seconds remaining in regulation.
• The Tigers scored the final three points of the game and were able to hold on to the win.

NOTABLES

• Tech was out shot 52.5 percent to 50.0 percent, while OBU held a 15-20 advantage in turnovers.
• Tech out rebounded the Tigers 30-29, while Ouachita outscored Tech 31-15 on points off of turnovers.
• OBU held a 40-8 advantage in bench points.
• RJ Glasper and Freddy Lee joined Brown and Williams in double-figures in scoring as they both scored ten points. Williams led Tech with eight boards, while Lee out a game-high nine assists.
