COACH MONICA SAYS
- On the team's performance – "I feel like we came out and jumped on them right from the get-go, but they came right back and scored on us and made it 7-7. The big play was with the special teams on the blocked punt, and then the offense really got going. I thought we had some opportunities going into the game to have some big plays offensively and we did. We knew their running back was really good. He's one of the best running backs in the league and I still feel that way. He showed tonight what he can do. Those guys don't quit. They kept scrapping and fighting. It could have been a closer final score. Our kids played hard, and we didn't quit, and any time you win a game it's a big deal."
- On playing an ascendant Southern Nazarene team next week – "Their coach has been there a year now, and has been in his system for a year. Everyone in the league tells me how improved they are. We played them the first game of last year, so we didn't really watch them. They're obviously improved beating Harding in Searcy and East Central in Ada. I have a lot of respect for them and what their coaches are doing over there."
NEXT UP
- The Wonder Boys are back in action next Saturday, September 23, facing Southern Nazarene in Bethany at the SNU Football Stadium. A 1 p.m. kickoff is scheduled.
