MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Arkansas Tech volleyball won its opening conference game of the season for the 11
th straight year on Tuesday, defeating Southern Arkansas in straight sets (25-16, 25-19, 25-18). The Golden Suns posted an attack percentage over .300 for the sixth consecutive match, while Tech held the Lady Muleriders to hit just .061.

- Arkansas Tech is set to host the Holiday Inn Express Spikefest tournament beginning on Thursday, Sept. 14, in Russellville. The Golden Suns will lead off the invitational with a 6 p.m. match against Central Missouri in Tucker Coliseum.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Arkansas Tech (10-0, 1-0 GAC) excelled on offense in the first set, hitting .529 with 19 kills and just one attack error. The Suns took advantage midway through the set with a 9-0 run that featured three kills from Allie Anderson.
- The Suns' defense controlled the second set, forcing Southern Arkansas (3-9, 0-1 GAC) into a -.088 attack percentage with 14 attack errors.
- In the final set, Arkansas Tech recorded 14 kills and limited SAU to just seven. The Golden Suns used a 7-2 run late in the contest to take a 20-13 lead, and Tabitha Spray eventually gave Tech the win with a kill off the assist from Amanda Milnick.

- Tech's win streak to begin the 2017 season reaches to 10 matches with the victory over Southern Arkansas. The Golden Suns have also won 21 consecutive sets, which includes the previous six matches being won in straight sets.
- Hunter Eshnaur led all players with 12 kills in the match, and she added six digs, three assists and two total blocks. Spray and Anderson followed with nine kills and eight kills, respectively.
- Milnick paced the offense with a match-high 32 assists, and she tallied 10 digs to record her 12th career double-double.
- Madison Nagel compiled 12 digs and five assists.
