WILSON HITS IN FIVE RUNS AS TECH TAKES TWO FROM TIGERS

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Behind Marcus Wilson's six hits and five runs batted in and Geoffrey Birkemeier's complete-game win, the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys swept a doubleheader against East Central on Friday. Tech took the first game, 11-7, before defeating the Tigers, 10-2, in game two.

  • With the two wins, Tech keeps its place at second in the Great American Conference standings, but the Wonder Boys jumped to just 1.5 games behind first-place Southern Arkansas.
  • M. Wilson hit his first home run of the season in game one, giving Tech its second and final lead of the game in the fourth inning. Wilson finished the day batting 6-10 with four runs five RBI. He also stole home for the second time this season.
  • All nine batters for the Wonder Boys recorded a hit in game one, with Wilson and Gibbs recording three each.
  • K. Wilson moved to 5-0 on the season with the win in game one. Bohuslav pitched the final 3.1 innings of the first game to earn his second save of the season.
  • M. Wilson, Klockowski and Parker O'Dell each batted in two runs in game two, as the Wonder Boys took a 10-0 lead of 6.5 innings of action.
  • ECU scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh, but Birkemeier forced a ground ball with two outs to end the game and earn his first complete game of the season.
