10-RUN EIGHTH INNING LIFTS ARKANSAS TECH OVER ECU

ADA, Okla. – A 10-run eighth inning that included a game-tying three-run home run by Cody Wescott carried the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys to a 15-6 win and three-game sweep over the East Central Tigers on Saturday.

  • Arkansas Tech returns to action next weekend, as the Wonder Boys host Southeastern Oklahoma for a three-game series in Russellville. Play begins on Friday, April 7, at 7 p.m.

  • With the win, the Wonder Boys earn their third consecutive conference series victory and their fourth three-game sweep of the season.
  • Tech recorded a season-high 18 hits in the victory, led by Gibbs and Kyle Love with three each. 10 different Wonder Boys recorded a hit in the nine-inning contest.
  • The Wonder Boys posted their eighth game this season with at least 10 runs, including all three games in Ada this weekend. Tech finished the weekend outscoring the Tigers, 36-15, in three games.
  • Down 5-1 in the eighth inning, Vaughn sparked a rally with an RBI-single up the middle. Wescott followed with his third homer of the season to tie the score, and McDearmon's double down the left field line gave Tech its second lead of the game.
  • Love added two more insurance runs with his second home run of the season.
  • Bowling moved to 2-0 on the season after allowing just one run in 3.1 innings, and Branden Bohuslav pitched a scoreless ninth inning to secure the win.
