WONDER BOYS SWEEP RANGERS TO STAY ATOP GAC STANDINGS

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Dylan McDearmon tallied six hits, four runs and four runs batted in to lead Arkansas Tech to its second consecutive conference sweep, as the Wonder Boys defeated Northwestern Oklahoma State twice on Saturday, 9-3 and 9-2. The 6-0 start in Great American Conference play is the best start since 2013 when Tech won its first seven conference games.

  • Arkansas Tech takes a solo spot at the top of the conference with the sweep, as the Wonder Boys are the only GAC team without a loss in conference play.
  • With the win in game one, Armstrong picked up his 19th career win - fifth-most in Arkansas Tech history. Armstrong pitched 5.1 innings for the Wonder Boys, striking out eight.
  • Bowling made his second appearance on the mound as a Wonder Boy, pitching 3.2 hitless innings for a save in game one.
  • McDearmon led the offense in Tech's first win of the day, batting 4-4, including two doubles and one home run. His four hits and three runs are both career highs.
  • Birkemeier started the final game of the series for Arkansas Tech and held a no-hitter through five innings. Jesse Harbin came in relief for the final inning, striking out one.
  • Vaughn and Klockowski each batted in a game-high three runs, while Klockowski hit his sixth home run of the season. Klockowski currently leads the GAC in runs batted in with 19 and is tied for home runs.
