SUNS HOLD OFF LADY TIGERS FOR BIG ROAD VICTORY

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – After jumping out to a big first half lead, the No. 21 Arkansas Tech Golden Suns (18-3, 14-3 Great American Conference) held off a furious Ouachita Baptist (9-14, 6-11 GAC) rally to come away with a 78-63 victory over the Lady Tigers on Saturday at Bill Vining Arena in Arkadelphia.

The Golden Suns return home on Monday, February 13 for a crucial conference matchup against No. 25 Harding for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off inside Tucker Coliseum.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Suns opened the game on a 10-0 run in the first 2:20 of the game, capped off on an Anissa Pounds three-pointer from the right wing.
  • Leading 21-14 at the end of the first quarter, Tech went on a 13-0 run during the first 5:10 of the second of the second quarter to jump out to a 33-14 lead.
  • D'Rae Tullock scored six of the last eight points of the first half for the Suns to take a 41-22 lead into halftime.
  • Pounds gave the Suns their largest lead of the game on a three-pointer with 4:43 to go to make it 57-33.
  • After Calli White hit a three-pointer with 8:23 to go in the fourth quarter to stretch the lead back to 68-44, the Lady Tigers rallied with a 17-6 run to cut the lead to 13 with 3:15 left.
  • The Suns defense stifled the Lady Tigers in the final three minutes, holding OBU to just two points in that stretch to come away with the 78-63 win.
 
NOTABLES
  • Danielle Frachiseur led a trio of Suns in double-figures with 15 points on 7-of-14 shooting and team-leading eight rebounds. Kelsey McClure pitched in 14 points on 6-of-11 from the floor and eight boards while Ryann Goodsell added a season-high 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting.
  • Tech held OBU to just 21-percent shooting from the floor in the first half and 10-percent from the three-point arc.
  • The Suns outrebounded the Lady Tigers 44-28, including a 19-9 edge on the offensive glass.
  • Tech held a strong advantage in the low block, outscoring OBU 40-28 in the paint.
