RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech University men's basketball team steps out of Great American Conference action this week with a non-conference matchup against Hendrix College this Wednesday (Dec. 13) at 8 p.m. at Tucker Coliseum.
SCOUTING THE WONDER BOYS
Arkansas Tech (6-1, 3-1 GAC) is coming off an 86-83 conference home victory over Northwestern Oklahoma State. Senior forward Trevin Woods' game-high 20 points, 16 coming in the first half, paved the way for Tech. Senior Montrell Williams scored a season-high 18 points and grabbed six rebounds. Two other Wonder Boys reached double figures as Harris Brown scored 11 and RJ Glasper scored ten.
Glasper's 15.7 points per game is not only a team-high but is also ranked eighth in the GAC. Glasper also ranks first in free throw percentage (94.1) and third in steals per game (2.3). H. Brown is second on the team in scoring and is ranked 15th in the conference with 13.9 points per game. A. Brown leads the team in rebounding and has the second highest rebounding average in the GAC at nine rebounds per game. Among others Wonder Boys leading in the conference, Freddy Lee is ranked first in assist/turnover ratio (4.3) and seventh in assists per game (3.7), while Mason Cline is ranked third in the GAC in 3-pointers made per game (2.9).
SCOUTING THE WARRIORS
Hendrix (1-6) lost its sixth game of the season with an 86-69 loss to Centenary. Freshman forward Marcis Hall was one of five Warriors players to reach double figures in scoring. Hall had a team-high 14 points, Trey Rouse chipped in 12 points, Jacob Link and Eric Roberts added 11 points and Kam Brasfield scored ten. Link led the team in rebounding with five boards.
Hendrix is led this season by Link, who is averaging a team-high 17.5 points per contest. Hall (14.6 ppg and 5.7 rpg), Brasfield (13.4 ppg and 3.7 rpg), and freshman guard Rouse (13.0 ppg and 2.4 rpg) are also among the leaders for seventh-year head coach Thad McCracken's squad.
Last season, the Warriors compiled an 11-15 overall record with a 7-7 record in the Southern Athletic Association Conference.
ALL-TIME SERIES
Arkansas Tech leads 79-66 versus Hendrix College in the series which originated in the 1914-15 season. Tech has won seven of the last ten meetings. The Wonder Boys claimed an 84-74 win over the Warriors in the last meeting during the 1991-92 season. Tech is 44-20 at home, 31-42 on the road, and 4-4 at neutral sites versus Hendrix.
