WONDER BOYS SET TO HOST GAC/NSIC CROSSOVER

GAC/NSIC Game Notes

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – 
Wonder Boys basketball team opens the 2017-18 regular season on Friday, as Tech host Minnesota-Crookston at 7 p.m. in Tucker Coliseum. Arkansas Tech follows with a home contest against Concordia-St. Paul on Saturday at 8 p.m.
 
SCOUTING THE WONDER BOYS
Arkansas Tech (0-0, 0-0 GAC) will look to upper classmen Alex Brown and Montrell Williams to lead the Wonder Boys. Brown finished last season second on the team in scoring (13.3 ppg), second in rebounding (5.2 rpg) and second on the team in the 3-point percentage (39.9%). While Williams was third on the team in scoring (12.7 ppg) and led the team in blocks (27).
 
The Wonder Boys were picked to finish second in the Great American Conference Preseason Poll.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES
Minnesota-Crookston (0-0) is coming off an exhibition loss to Drake. The Golden Eagles led Division I foe Drake University 41-35 at halftime, but the Bulldogs used a big second half to a claim an 86-73 victory.
 
As a team, Minnesota-Crookston shot 46.7 percent from the floor and 42.3 percent from three-point range. Alan Hodge led the Golden Eagles in scoring with 24 points.
 
The Golden Eagles were picked in a tie for 14th with Concordia-St. Paul in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Preseason Poll.
 
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN BEARS
Concordia-St. Paul (0-0) opened up the season with a 106-58 exhibition loss to Minnesota. The Minnesota Golden Gophers are currently the 15th ranked team in Division I.

The Golden Bears shot 35.6 percent from the floor and 40.9 percent from deep. Bryndan Matthews led the team in scoring with 16 points.
 
Concordia was picked in a tie for 14th with Minnesota-Crookston in the NSIC Preseason Poll.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES
This will be the first time Tech has faced both Minnesota-Crookston and Concordia-St. Paul.
