WONDER BOYS MOVE TO 2-0 ON THE SEASON

Box Score RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Alex Brown's team-high 17 points helped the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys basketball team claim their second win of the season on Saturday, defeating Concordia-St. Paul, 86-67.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Concordia (0-2) claimed an early 4-2 lead. The lead did not last long as the Wonder Boys took their first lead of the game on a Trevin Woods three-pointer.
  • Both teams fought to gain an advantage in the first half as there were two lead changes, three ties and neither team led by more seven points.
  • Tech ended the first half with a 38-35 lead. The Wonder Boys shot 40.0 percent from the floor while holding Concordia to 41.2 percent from the floor. Bryndan Matthews led all scorers at the break with 13 points.
  • Tech opened the second half on a 9-0 run as Woods drained three straight 3-pointers to put the score at 44-35 with 19:19 remaining in regulation.
  • The Wonder Boys took its first double-digit lead after Woods hit his fourth 3-pointer of the half.
  • The Wonder Boys led the entire second half, claiming their largest lead of the contest at 21 points with 6:44 to play.
 
NOTABLES
  • The Wonder Boys committed just 11 turnovers in the win, while forcing 23 by the Golden Eagles. Tech turned the 23 turnovers into 15 points.
  • Tech finished with a shooting percentage of 45.1 percent. Concordia shot 45.8 percent. The Wonder Boys also hit 16 3-pointers on 16-41 shooting from behind the arc.
  • A. Brown and Woods combined for 32 points as they both went 5-for-9 from downtown. Woods also grabbed a team-high six boards.
  • H. Brown and Jerami Grace provided a spark off the bench as they combined for 25 points. H. Brown tallied 15 points on 7-of-12 shooting and also added three assists. Grace scored ten points on 3-of-8 shooting.
  • Concordia won the battle in the paint as they out rebounded Tech 42-34 and outscored the Wonder Boys 40-22.
