WONDER BOYS HOLD OFF RANGERS

ALVA, Okla.Justin Graham scored 24 points, Montrell Williams added 19, Trevin Woods added 17 more, while Mason Cline (12 points) and Grant Prusator (11 points) also reached double figures as the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys basketball team (12-4, 8-4 Great American Conference) downed Northwestern Oklahoma (8-9, 4-8 GAC) 98-85 on Thursday night at Percefull Fieldhouse.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The two teams traded leads 11 times in the opening half. NWOSU claimed the early advantage, opening up as large as a seven-point (19-12) lead with 12:37 remaining in the opening half, but the Wonder Boys rallied and led by as many as five (36-31) with 5:24 remaining.
  • After Freddy Lee sunk a free throw with 34 seconds remaining in the half to send the game to halftime tied at 47-47, the Wonder Boys scored the first 12 points of the second half to grab a 13-point advantage.
  • A Montrell Williams jumper with 9:23 remaining gave Tech a 17-point advantage (78-61), its largest lead of the game to that point.
  • NWOSU responded with 10 straight points to cut the Tech advantage to seven (78-71) with 7:26 to play.
  • Mason Cline snapped the run with his fourth 3-pointer of the night and extended the Tech lead back to 10 (81-71) with 6:49 remaining, but the Rangers would get no closer as the Wonder Boys held on for the win.
