WONDER BOYS HOLD OFF BOLL WEEVILS

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. Ty Reasnor passed for 330 yards and three touchdowns, Seth Culp made 15 tackles and D'Vonta Derricott added 11 as the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys (2-1) held off a late charge from the Arkansas-Monticello Boll Weevils (1-2), winning 38-31 on Saturday at Thone Stadium at Buerkle Field.

NOTABLES
  • Reasnor's 81-yard pass to Bailey was the longest completion since the 2004 season when Dennis Robertson and Jermaine Murdock hooked up on a 98-yard connection.
  • Tech's first two scoring drives of the contest took advantage of excellent field position, with the first drive starting on the UAM 43 and the second drive starting at the UAM seven-yard line.
  • In a relatively even statistical contest, UAM controlled the ground, outgaining Tech 160-117 on the strength of a 140-yard rushing effort from Imani Riley.
  • While the Boll Weevils controlled the ground game, it was the Wonder Boys who established supremacy in the air, outgaining UAM 330-224 over the air.
  • Tech took advantage of three long passes in the contest – Justin Bailey and Jabyes Cross both had catches of over 50 yards. Cross' 56-yard reception and Bailey's 81-yard reception both went for scores, while Chris Eastburn was stopped just short of the goal line on a 46-yard catch.
  • Tech was 7-of-16 on third downs while UAM was 5-of-17.
  • The two teams combined to go 7-for-8 in the red zone – UAM was 3-of-3 while Tech was 4-of-5.
