GOLDEN SUNS SWEPT ON DAY ONE OF PEGGY MARTIN CHALLENGE

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Hunter Eshnaur notched 21 kills, while Sarah Rosinke dished out 30 assists, but the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns volleyball team (6-5) was unable to overcome solid performances from a pair of national powerhouses, falling 3-1 to Northwest Missouri and 3-0 to Central Missouri.
 
ARKANSAS TECH vs. NORTHWEST MISSOURI - HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Northwest Missouri jumped out to a 2-0 match lead after 25-23 and 25-15 wins in the opening sets.
  • After Arkansas Tech and NWMSU were relatively close in hitting percentage in the opening set, the Bearcats outhit Tech .444 to .103 in the second set.
  • The Golden Suns turned in an efficient offensive performance in the third set, outhitting NWMSU .415 to .375 to win the third set 26-24.
  • The Bearcats closed out the match with a 25-14 win in the fourth set.
NOTABLES ARKANSAS TECH vs. CENTRAL MISSOURI - HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Golden Suns held UCM close in the opening set, falling 25-20.
  • The second set was controlled by the Jennies, as UCM outhit Tech .531 to .069 in a 25-9 win.
  • UCM closed out the match with a 25-21 win in the third set.
NOTABLES
  • The Golden Suns stayed in positive hitting territory throughout the match, hitting .074.
  • Eshnaur led Tech with eight kills.
  • Milnick led the way in assists and digs, with 11 assists and 12 digs.
  • Eshnaur also hit double digit digs with 10.

  • "We were challenged today w two great teams. At times, we stepped up to that challenge, but against nationally ranked teams, we had to play a lot more consistent and competitive in order to come away w a victory."
