RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The top-ranked team in the Central Region and the nationally eighth-ranked Arkansas Tech Golden Suns softball team (44-7, 34-6 Great American Conference) are looking to continue an already remarkable season this weekend as the Golden Suns travel to Bentonville, Arkansas for the 2016 GAC Tournament from April 27-29 at the Tiger Athletic Complex in the Bentonville Visitors and Convention Bureau.

The Golden Suns have won the 2016 GAC regular season championship, broke the program record for most wins in a season, and have broken the conference record for wins in a season.

The Golden Suns are coming off a series win over Northwestern Oklahoma this past weekend, taking three out of four games in the series. The Suns broke the school record in wins during the nightcap of Friday's doubleheader, defeating the Rangers 5-0 for their 43
rd win of the season.

Arkansas Tech heads into the tournament as the No. 1 seed and will open with eighth-seeded Southern Nazarene (27-29, 18-26 GAC) tomorrow at 2 p.m.
In the season series, the Golden Suns swept the Crimson Storm 3-1, 6-4, 5-0, and 7-2 in a four-game series in Bethany, Oklahoma.
Jalissa Gum pitched a complete two-hit shutout in the 5-0 victory over SNU.

In the second game of the day, Arkansas Tech would face either No. 4 seed Harding or No. 5 seed Arkansas-Monticello in the 8 p.m. game depending on the outcomes of the first round games.
