GOLDEN SUNS ROLL PAST BULLDOGS

WEATHERFORD, Okla.Jalissa Gum turned in another outstanding performance in the pitcher's circle while posting a five-hit day, while Kambri Hill added four hits as the No. 7 Arkansas Tech Golden Suns softball team (41-6, 31-5 Great American Conference) scored early and often in a doubleheader sweep of Southwestern Oklahoma (16-32, 14-24 GAC), winning the opener 13-0 before taking a 6-1 victory in the nightcap.

  • Jalissa Gum picked up the win after allowing one hit in four innings, walking two and fanning nine. The junior has now pitched 31.2 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run.
  • Gum had a team-high three hits, while Coronado, Hill, Goodnight, and Knowles added two hits apiece.
  • Chloe Clifton belted a three-run homer as a pinch hitter in the fifth inning.
  • Gum drove in three runs while Goodnight drove in four.
  • Arkansas Tech reached the 40-win plateau for the fourth time in program history and the second consecutive season. The Golden Suns' 30 conference wins also represents a new high-water mark (the previous record is 23 set during the 2011 season).
