  • HSU briefly surrendered the lead to the Wonder Boys after a 3-pointer by Lee with 5:53 to play, but HSU reclaimed the lead just 50 seconds later and would not trail again in the half, carrying a five-point (37-32) lead into halftime.
  • Tech came out strong in the second half, using a 10-0 run over the first 4:09 to claim a seven-point lead (44-37).
  • The Reddies pulled to within two (46-44) with 14:20 to go, but Tech scored the next seven points to claim a nine-point advantage (53-44) with 12:20 to play.

  • From there, HSU would get no closer than six points as Tech pushed its lead into double-digits for the first time (73-63) with 1:05 to play.

COACH KLINE SAYS
  • On the halftime adjustments"It wasn't really pleasant at halftime. This was one weird game. The key at halftime was we couldn't panic. We hadn't played great, but Henderson State had to win all of its remaining games (to qualify for the GAC Tournament) and they played like they were playing for their basketball lives. We defended the high post and 3-point line a lot better in the second half. We'd rather win ugly than lose pretty."
NEXT UP
  • The Wonder Boys make their way to Monticello, Ark. this Saturday for a 4 p.m. matchup against the Boll Weevils of the University of Arkansas at Monticello.
