GOLDEN SUNS WIN EXHIBITION OVER DALLAS DIESEL

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Behind Danielle Frachiseur's 24 points and 10 rebounds, Arkansas Tech women's basketball defeated Dallas Diesel in an exhibition on Sunday. Calli White and Kelsey McClure also tallied 22 and 20 points, respectively.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Golden Suns netted just 5-22 field goals in the first quarter, while Dallas Diesel knocked down 8-18 to take a 20-13 lead into the second period.
  • In the second quarter, an old-fashioned three-point play by Cheyenne North sparked a 15-3 run by the Golden Suns, giving Tech a three-point advantage midway through the period. Dallas Diesel ended the half with an 8-2 run, however, taking a 37-34 lead into the break.
  • Tech's best offensive output came in the third quarter, as the Golden Suns converted on 64.7 percent of their field goals. Arkansas Tech outscored Dallas Diesel 31-22 in the quarter, including nine points from White.
  • The Golden Suns claimed their largest lead of the contest in the fourth quarter, when a layup by Frachiseur put Tech ahead by 18.
  • McClure caught fire in the final period, scoring 14 of Tech's 32 points. McClure was 5-6 from the field and 3-3 from the free-throw line.
  • Tech finished the exhibition shooting 45.3 percent from the floor, while holding Dallas Diesel to just 40.3 percent. The Golden Suns were 10-27 from behind the arc, including a 5-11 effort from White.
 
NOTABLES
  • After losing the first quarter, 20-13, Tech outscored Dallas Diesel 84-65 in the final 30 minutes of play.
  • The Golden Suns grabbed 46 total rebounds in the win, including 19 offensive for 18 second-chance points. Tech also outscored Dallas Diesel in the paint, 38-26.
  • Frachiseur's 24 points tied for the game-high, while her 10 rebounds led all players. White added three assists to her 22-point outing, and McClure finished with six rebounds and three assists along with 20 points.
  • Anissa Pounds recorded 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists. She led all players with five offensive boards.

  • Tech's regular season officially begins on Saturday, Nov. 12, as the Golden Suns host Lane College. The game is scheduled for 1 p.m.
