McCLURE SCORES CAREER HIGH AS TECH DEFEATS OKLAHOMA CHRISTIAN

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Kelsey McClure set a new career high in Arkansas Tech's 83-66 win over Oklahoma Christian on Tuesday, notching 25 points. The Golden Suns outscored the Lady Eagles 44-29 over the second and third quarters en route to Tech's third win of the season.  
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Calli White gave Arkansas Tech (3-1) the first lead of the contest with a three-pointer off an Anissa Pounds assist.
  • Oklahoma Christian (1-4) held a lead for over five minutes in the first quarter, but a three from Danielle Frachiseur switched the advantage back to the Golden Suns. D'Rae Tullock later put Tech ahead, 17-15, on a layup, as Tech took the two-point lead into the second period.
  • Tech's offense caught fire in the second quarter, as the Golden Suns netted 9-11 field goals. The Golden Suns were perfect from long range, as well, knocking down 4-4 three-pointers.
  • Midway through the second quarter, a three-pointer from White sparked a 17-2 run by Arkansas Tech, giving the Golden Suns a 41-26 lead. McClure paced Tech's offense with eight points in the period, while Pounds added six on just two shots.
  • McClure continued her offensive showcase in the third quarter, scoring 10 of Tech's 19 points. An 8-0 run to start the second half gave the Golden Suns their largest lead of 20, and Tech later took a 61-44 lead into the final ten minutes.
  • Arkansas Tech coasted to victory in the final period of the play, never allowing the Lady Eagles to pull within 10 points. The Golden Suns converted on all 11 free-throws in the fourth quarter to secure the win.
 
NOTABLES
  • The Golden Suns finished the game shooting 47.5 percent from the floor. Oklahoma Christian was held to just 36.1 percent on field goals, including a 5-26 combined shooting effort from two of OC's top three scorers.
  • Tech out-rebounded the Lady Eagles, 40-33. Tech also recorded 21 assists, while Oklahoma Christian finished with just 12 assists.
  • McClure's 25 points came on 8-12 field goals and a perfect 8-8 on free-throws. She also tied a career high with eight rebounds.
  • Pounds followed with 17 points, seven boards and a game-high six assists. Frachiseur and Tullock finished with double-digit scoring efforts, as well, tallying 14 points and 10 points, respectively.
  • In all four regular-season games this season, Arkansas Tech has opened the scoring with a three-pointer.
 
NEXT UP
  • The Golden Suns will be on the road for their next game, traveling to Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday, Nov. 26, for Tech's first road match of the season. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. in UMSL's Mark Twain Building.
