RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys (9-7 overall, 4-6 Great American Conference) will look to turn things around as they return home to take on Arkansas-Monticello (5-10 overall, 3-6 GAC) on Saturday Jan. 23 for a 3 p.m. tip-off.

THE UAM SERIESIt is the 153rd time in the history of the series that dates back to 1929 that the Wonder Boys and the Boll Weevils will face off. The Wonder Boys lead the series history 101-51 and hold a 58-12 record at home against UAM. The last time both teams played, the Wonder Boys pulled out an 83-76 victory on Feb. 28, 2015 in Monticello. In last season's meeting in Russellville, Tech opened the year with a 76-63 victory on Jan. 3, 2015.
SCOUTING THE BOLL WEEVILSUAM is 10th in the GAC in scoring offense (73.3 ppg) and fourth in the conference in scoring defense (74.6 ppg). The Boll Weevils feature a balanced offense with four players averaging in double-figures scoring. Leading UAM is senior guard Jamal Peterson (15.1 ppg, 2.6 apg) followed by senior guard Richard Benedyth (14.3 ppg, 3 apg), Brandon Scott (12.4 ppg, 16 steals), and Vicktor Arnick (10.3 ppg, 4 rpg).
PERFECTION FROM THE LINEDespite an 89-80 loss to Henderson State in their last game, the Wonder Boys were a perfect 21-for-21 from the free throw line. It was the first time since 2010 that Arkansas Tech made all their free throws in one game and was only the third time in the last 12 years to make all of its free throws in one game.
STARTING TO EMERGEAfter putting in some of their best performances of the season against Southern Arkansas and Harding, freshman point guard
Freddy Lee and junior forward
Jerry Owens made their first starts of the season on Thursday, Jan. 21 against Henderson State. Lee scored a career-high 19 points and led the Wonder Boys with five rebounds in the game. Owens scored seven points in his first career start.
HIGHS AND LOWSSenior guard
Andrew Guillory put together one of his best performances of the season against Henderson State. Guillory scored a career-high 20 points and made 8-of-8 from the charity stripe. On the opposite end of the spectrum, Wonder Boys leading scorer
Marquis Yates was held to a season-low seven points.
