BARTLESVILLE, Okla. —
Fatima Adams turned in a 22-point, 12-rebound performance, while
Fabiana Monte and
Katrina Hayden contributed 12 points apiece as the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns basketball team (23-5) took a 68-62 win over Southeastern Oklahoma (20-10) in the semifinals of the Great American Conference Tournament.
Arkansas Tech will play the winner of the Harding/Arkansas-Monticello semifinal for the Great American Conference tournament title on Sunday, March 8 at 1 p.m. The game will be carried live on 100.9 FM (KWKK) in Russellville, with live video available at

Southeastern's Kaylie Baxter hit a long 3-pointer to open scoring at the 19:42 mark of the opening half, but after
Jacinda Myers-Sanders got the Golden Suns on the board with a layup at the 18:15 mark, Hayden hit a 3-pointer to put the Golden Suns ahead with 17:40 remaining in the opening half.
Arkansas Tech would never trail again, keeping a modest lead over the Savage Storm through the majority of the opening half.
After SE's Cheree Kiser hit a jumper to pull the Savage Storm within two (21-19) with 8:05 remaining, the Golden Suns outscored the Savage Storm 9-2 over the next four minutes to claim a nine-point (30-21) lead.
After the Savage Storm cut it back to five (30-25) with 3:03 to play, the Golden Suns finished the second half on an 8-0 run to take a 13-point (38-25) lead into the half.
After the Golden Suns stretched the lead to 15 in the early minutes of the second half, the Storm rallied back, cutting a 15-point (55-40) lead at the 12:56 mark to five (55-50) with a 10-0 run over the next 3:30. Tech quickly pushed its lead back into double figures, going ahead by 12 (63-52) with 5:11 remaining.
The Savage Storm cut it to four (66-62) with 1:02 remaining after a pair of free throws by Taylor Richards, but those would be the final points of the contest for Southeastern as the Golden Suns held on for the win.
Tech shot 50 percent from the floor for the contest, connecting on 56.7 percent of its shots in the opening half. The Golden Suns outrebounded Southeastern 36-32.
Adams' 12 rebounds led all players, while Hayden chipped in a game-high seven assists in the win.
