Anissa Pounds scored 23 points, while
Fatima Adams turned in a 19-point, 13-rebound effort as the No. 17 Arkansas Tech Golden Suns basketball team (16-3, 11-2 Great American Conference) returned to the win column with a 66-61 win over Ouachita Baptist (7-13, 3-10 GAC) on Saturday at Vining Arena.
Ouachita Baptist claimed control early, and pushed ahead by seven (13-6) five minutes into the game. The Lady Tigers held a seven-point (22-15) lead as late as the 7:19 mark of the opening half before the Golden Suns charged back, using an 11-0 run to claim the lead and pull ahead by four (26-22) with 4:36 to play in the half.
OBU knotted the game at 26-26 with 2:35 to play, but Tech concluded the half on an 8-0 run to take a 34-26 lead into the break.
The Golden Suns would not trail again, eventually pushing the lead into the double digits (59-49) with 6:38 to play. OBU was able to score the final four points of the game over the final minute to narrow the contest to its final five-point margin.
The Golden Suns outshot OBU 41.7 to 37.3 percent from the floor, while holding a 39-35 advantage on the rebounding glass. Tech took advantage of 16 OBU turnovers to score 17 of its points as a result.
Tech concludes its three-game road swing on Thursday, Feb. 5, facing Southwestern Oklahoma in Weatherford, Oklahoma. A 5:30 p.m. tip is scheduled.
