Emily Todd turned in a 13-kill, 10-dig performance,
Kaci Jackson added an 11-kill, 12-dig effort with a .423 hitting percentage, while
Sierra Nighswonger added a 43-assist, 13-dig double-double as the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns volleyball team (26-5, 13-1 Great American Conference) won its 18
th straight match with a 3-0 sweep of Arkansas-Monticello (14-14, 5-9 GAC) on Thursday at Tucker Coliseum.
"This was a great match to cap off a strong 2014 regular season," said Golden Suns head coach
Kristy Bayer. "
Kaci Jackson had an unbelievable game both offensively and defensively, and I felt like our defense looked good, our serve-receive looked good, and we did a good job of coming in and taking care of business."
The Golden Suns opened the match with a 25-18 win and followed up with 25-18 and 25-20 set wins to seal the match victory.
Tech outhit UAM .244 to .084 for the match, going for a match-best .300 hitting percentage in the opening set, and never hitting below .200 in a single set.
Kaylee Konsella added a 10-kill effort with a .269 hitting percentage in the win.
Tech was led by
Madison Nagel with 17 digs, while
McCall Wilkins picked up four assisted blocks to go along with her five kills and
Katie Huff added two solo blocks and one assisted block to go along with her eight kills.
By virtue of their regular-season conference title, the Golden Suns will open Great American Conference Championship play on Thursday, Nov. 13 with a 5 p.m. opening-round matchup against an opponent to be determined later tonight.
