Arkansas Tech opened the game on a 14-4 run, capped with a
Caroline Eubanks layup just under five minutes into the game. North Alabama roared back, using an 8-0 run to pull to within two points (14-12) just 90 seconds later.
Again, the Golden Suns would go on another run, outscoring the Lions 9-2 over the next two minutes to extend the Tech lead back to nine points (23-14). Tech pushed its lead out to as many as 14 points (36-22) with 5:15 to play in the half, but the Lions used a 11-1 run to cut their deficit to five (37-32) at half.
The run would continue into the second half, as the Lions would score the first eight points of the second half to take a three-point (40-37) lead with 15:44 to play.

After a 3-pointer by Delisa Madry gave UNA a 49-48 lead with 11:10 to play, Crow hit a layup with 10:39 to play that gave the Golden Suns a 50-49 lead, and Arkansas Tech would not trail again. The layup kickstarted a 10-0 run, and the Golden Suns would push their lead out to as many as 18 points (72-54) after a Pounds 3-pointer with 3:20 to play.
The Lions would not go quietly, however, using a 11-0 run to pull to within seven points (72-65) with 1:26 to play, but the clock was not on UNA's side, as the Lions were forced to foul and the Golden Suns made the most of their free-throw attempts in the final minute, making seven of eight free throws to push the lead into double digits in the closing seconds.
The Golden Suns shot 48.2 percent to UNA's 38.6 percent from the floor, while holding a 74.1 to 60.7 percent advantage from the charity stripe. Tech was dominant on the rebounding glass, holding a 46-28 advantage, while the Golden Suns held a 44-31 advantage in points in the paint.
